Tonsil stones keep forming... Is surgery the only answer?

I'm so stressed out because of my tonsil stones.

It used to happen occasionally, but it's become more frequent recently.

I have postnasal drip, and I heard that if you have postnasal drip, you are more likely to get tonsil stones.

As phlegm flows down the back of the throat, it is more likely that tonsil stones will form.

Even if you brush your teeth or gargle diligently, at some point you feel a foreign object in your throat, and if you cough even a little or clear your throat, you feel a peculiar smell coming up.

At first I thought it only happened when I wasn't feeling well.

It used to only happen occasionally when I was tired, didn't sleep well, or had a dry throat, but these days it happens whenever I forget, regardless of my condition, so it's really uncomfortable.

In the past, I used to go to the ENT clinic whenever I got tonsil stones, but now that they're happening more frequently, I try to get them out at home by coughing or gargling, but it often just makes my throat hurt and doesn't come out.

I gargled, used a waterpik, and tried sprays, but none of them worked...

I use this, but for those who frequently get tonsil stones, do you have a separate water pick or spray that you use?

I'm curious about how you take care of yourself at home.

The ENT doctor said that my tonsils are originally large and have deep grooves, and that a tonsillectomy is a possible option, but that we should just remove them for now and discuss it again later if they get worse.

But the doctor also admitted that the surgery was painful;; so I'm a little worried.

Since postnasal drip is a type of rhinitis that cannot be cured, tonsil stones also occur. If tonsil stones continue to form even after treatment, is surgery the only answer?

The pain is painful, but I was even more worried because I heard that the recurrence rate is high even after surgery and my job involves talking a lot.

Is there really no other way than surgery, or are there people who get along well with frequent tonsil stones just by taking care of them?
