A review of lifestyle changes to prevent sudden hearing loss
Last year, I experienced a sudden hearing loss on my right side, so severe that it was almost unnoticeable. I was hospitalized for sudden deafness and received medication and injections, which helped somewhat. However, because sudden deafness can recur at any time, I'm paying close attention to my lifestyle to prevent it.
First, I've been paying close attention to my lifestyle and making many changes to avoid developing blood disorders that can cause sudden hearing loss. To prevent sudden hearing loss, I avoid caffeine, such as coffee, and I engage in aerobic exercise, such as walking or running, at least three times a week.
Sudden deafness can occur when blood flow to the ear is blocked, hindering its smooth flow. To prevent this, I've been visiting a Korean medicine clinic for acupuncture and moxibustion treatments twice a week for over a year. Furthermore, to prevent sudden deafness, I avoid wearing earphones at high volumes for long periods of time, being in noisy environments, or engaging in any activity that could irritate my ears.
Second, I eat a balanced diet to prevent sudden hearing loss. I eat plenty of blue-backed fish and nuts, which are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which help improve blood circulation. I also take vitamin B12 and folic acid, which support auditory nerve function, to prevent sudden hearing loss. And since sodium can contribute to increased inner ear pressure, I'm careful to reduce my sodium intake when I eat.
Third, to prevent sudden deafness, I'm taking a blood circulation enhancer that can help improve blood circulation and vasodilation. I've been taking Ginkgo Plus, a ginkgo leaf extract supplement made by Kolon Pharmaceuticals, and it seems to be helping with regular use. I also took Intero Omega-3 Balance 1200, which is said to contain B vitamins that protect the auditory nerve and contain omega-3 fatty acids that improve blood flow to the inner ear. This has been effective in preventing sudden deafness.
