Sharing my experience with treating otitis media that caused a "clicking" sound in my ear!
I experienced tinnitus in my right ear more than five times, and the next morning I woke up to irregular "knocking" sounds inside my ear along with pain. I visited an ENT specialist who specializes in tinnitus. I was diagnosed with Eustachian tubeitis and would like to share my treatment experience.
What is transfer inflammation?
The term "Eustachian tube" is synonymous with "Eustachian tube." The area inside the eardrum is called the middle ear, and pressure regulation and ventilation of the middle ear are controlled through the Eustachian tube, which is connected to the nose. Therefore, Eustachian tube inflammation is a condition where infection occurs in the Eustachian tube, and treatment for Eustachian tube inflammation is necessary.
What is the cause of otitis media?
The main causes are the invasion of viruses and bacteria, and activities such as climbing to high places or taking airplanes can also be contributing factors. My personal cause is related to having rhinitis, which means that forcefully blowing my nose is also considered a cause.
What are the symptoms of otitis media?
It is a condition where your ears feel muffled, and your voice sounds loud and echoing, accompanied by ringing, buzzing, and tinnitus symptoms. If the inflammation is severe, pus may drain from the ear. Treatment for eustachian tube inflammation is definitely necessary.
4. What tests are performed to diagnose otitis media?
Upon closely examining my ear with an ear endoscope, it was found that the eardrum in my right ear had a scar from a previous tear that had healed, and it was in a very weakened state. It was also mentioned that I had frequent recurrences of otitis media when I was young, which caused problems with the eardrum. Therefore, hearing tests and tests to assess the mobility of the eardrum were performed to check for hearing loss. The results showed no abnormalities in hearing, but it was noted that due to the weakened eardrum, I have become more sensitive to pressure applied to the ears compared to others.
What is the treatment method for otitis media?
In most cases, antibiotics are prescribed to treat otitis media, but in my case, since the inflammation was not severe, antibiotics were not necessary. However, I was cautious about actions that put pressure on the ear, and because I was experiencing ear pain, I was prescribed steroid medication. Due to frequent nose blowing caused by rhinitis, I received medication for rhinitis. If there is no ear pain, there is no need to take steroids, so I did not take them from the beginning.
6. How was the treatment for otitis media?
If the eustachian tube inflammation is not properly treated and the timing is missed, it can lead to otitis media. If you frequently experience tinnitus or hear sounds in your ears, please visit an otolaryngologist. And do you know that otolaryngology also has different specialties? I specifically sought out a tinnitus specialist, an ear specialist, to receive treatment for my eustachian tube inflammation.
