(Story) Weakly dropping foot. A review of complete recovery through traditional acupuncture treatment for foot drop caused by peroneal nerve paralysis

Have you heard of common peroneal nerve paralysis and foot drop?

It seems like a disease name that is difficult to encounter easily.

My friend experienced peroneal nerve paralysis.

I would like to share a review of the treatment for foot drop.

My job involved sitting in a crouched position for long hours.

I was about to get up to go to lunch after working continuously.

They said they can't put strength into one leg.

I thought it would be okay after a while, but it hasn't come back.

They said they have returned home.

We went to the orthopedic department together due to peroneal nerve paralysis.

I was diagnosed with foot drop.

The cause was due to sitting in a squatting position for a long time.

It is said that you have peroneal nerve paralysis.

The calf is supported by two bones from just below the knee to the ankle. These are the tibia, located on the inside, and the fibula, located on the outside. The common peroneal nerve is a nerve that branches off from the sciatic nerve, runs along the fibula, and emerges on the outer side of the knee, distributing to the shin. However, the common peroneal nerve is more sensitive to compression than other nerves. As a result, various situations that can cause nerve compression include...

It can cause peroneal nerve paralysis.

What is foot drop?

The ankle (foot), downward (lower), and drooping (ability) form the term 'Zokhasu,' which refers to a condition of ankle paralysis. As the name suggests, it describes a symptom where the foot drops downward. It is caused by muscle abnormalities, nerve compression or damage, leading to muscle weakness, inability to lift the ankle, and inability to pull the top of the foot toward the body, also known as foot drop.

Symptoms of foot drop

Foot drop symptoms literally mean the foot hanging downward, that is, the phenomenon of the foot dropping. In fact, people with this symptom are unable to lift the front part of their foot voluntarily.

If you don't walk with your knees raised excessively, your feet will drag.

It was very difficult to walkㅜ

At the first hospital I visited, they told me it might just be temporary and suggested waiting for the tension to ease, only prescribing medication and physical therapy. Of course, there was no improvement at all, so I went to a large orthopedic hospital in Suwon and even had an MRI, but the diagnosis was the same.

When I looked into it, I was suddenly scared to hear that if I don't come back within six months, I might never be able to walk again.

I'm like this too, how difficult must it have been for the patient themselves.

I quit my job and keep moving from hospital to hospital, but I don't have a car...

I felt sad because I could sense myself becoming increasingly depressed.

And so, three months passed helplessly, and the orthopedic department...

I gave up.

Treatment in orthopedics

Physical therapy > Nerve treatment > When it remains the same after 3 months

I was told to follow the order of surgical treatment, but since nerve treatment wasn't showing any improvement and I didn't think it was necessary to go as far as surgery, I decided to visit a place called <Suwon Gwangdong Korean Medicine Clinic> as a last resort.

The director said that he has tried to fix it as soon as he saw the symptoms.

He seemed very confident.

It feels like being poked randomly, even though I didn't see the acupuncture.

They said so. When you go in and come out, you come out feeling all worn out, haha.

I was half-hearted and went to get acupuncture for about two weeks.

The herbal medicine you prescribed will be effective if taken during the treatment period.

I ate it because they said it was better. I did not receive chuna therapy.

However, my toes started moving again after just two weeksㅜ

It was difficult to endure the process of receiving acupuncture, but

I'm really glad there were good results despite the difficulties.

I've been going through emotional struggles for a long time, and it really brought me to tears.

And I was fully recovered in just three weeks.

It was truly a fascinating experience.

The orthopedic department only told me to wait.

It seems that traditional Korean acupuncture treatment is effective for nerve therapy.

I started to think about this matter as an opportunity.

Will the nerve that is pressed once not be pressed again now?

I am living my life by following the preventive measures.

Above all, sitting in a squatting position for a long time is

I'm trying not to do it.

Prevention and Management of Common Peroneal Nerve Palsy

• Regular stretching

Stretching the ankles, soles of the feet, knees, and lower back helps keep muscles and joints flexible. This can aid in preventing foot drop.

• Wearing appropriate footwear

Wear shoes that provide good support for your feet to reduce the burden on your ankles and feet while walking. It is especially recommended to choose shoes with good cushioning.

•Weight management

Excessive weight puts strain on the feet, knees, and hips, so managing weight can help prevent pain and illnesses. Maintaining a healthy weight through proper diet and exercise is important.

If anyone is experiencing foot drop symptoms caused by common peroneal nerve paralysis, nerve damage tends to improve over time.

Don't neglect yourself when things get tough; try acupuncture treatment.

I want to recommend it to you.

Thank you for reading the long message.
