(Treatment review, helpful tips) Tips to prevent recurrence after sclerotherapy.
Varicose veins are a condition where blood circulation is impaired, causing increased pressure in the lower limbs, leading to the dilation of veins in the legs, which swell into lump-like formations.
I had a procedure a few months ago, and I am feeling much better now.
Since recurrence tends to happen easily, management with good exercise methods in advance
I think it's the most important.
Good exercises for varicose veins
Airbike: Lie flat on the floor and lift your legs at a 90-degree angle, then slowly move your legs as if pedaling a bicycle. The movement helps relax the contracted leg muscles and improves blood circulation.
Exercise using a chair: Sit on a chair, lift one leg straight up, and point the top of the foot toward your body. Then, repeatedly lift and lower your toes. Strengthening the lower body muscles can help activate blood circulation.
Light walking: Walking for about 30 minutes every day greatly promotes blood circulation. Since it is a low-impact exercise that does not put stress on the legs, it has the advantage of being less stressful.
Lie down or sit and gently pull your ankle toward your shin. Repeating this movement by stretching and relaxing the ankle is said to be good for lower body blood circulation.
Additionally, it is the most feasible way to perform lower body and full-body exercises.
They say swimming is the best.
It is also good to frequently do stretching that is beneficial for blood circulation.
One of the causes of varicose veins
It is said that venous blood, which should flow up to the heart, cannot rise properly and flows backward due to malfunction of the valve that acts as a pump within the venous vessels.
As a result, blood accumulates in the narrow blood vessels, causing the vessels to expand, veins to protrude, and symptoms like numbness, swelling of the feet, and a feeling of heaviness to occur.
In severe cases, necrosis may occur, so people with jobs that require standing or sitting for long periods should really take good care of themselves.
Exercises that are not good for varicose veins
Exercises that involve lifting heavy objects such as health/barbells/dumbbells
Since it can put a lot of strain on the lower body, it is not good for varicose veins, and long-duration strenuous activities such as marathons, running, and hiking should be avoided.
If the blood vessel walls are weakened, applying continuous pressure can cause a sudden increase in blood flow within the body, leading to overload of the venous valves. Therefore, if you have varicose veins or have undergone surgery, please only engage in light exercise.
Wearing compression stockings applies pressure and is said to be good for blood circulation.
The hospital told me to wear compression stockings for about a month or two after the surgery.
