오메가 성분이 심혈관 좋다고 그러더라고요 근데 이걸 한번에 왕창 먹거나 도중에 먹다 안먹다 하면 효과 없으니 꾸준히 적당량 복용해 얄거 같습니다.
A 30-year analysis of data from 204 countries identified lifestyle habits that increase the risk of stroke. Among dietary habits, high consumption of sugary drinks and a diet low in omega-6 fatty acids were found to significantly increase stroke risk.
Stroke is a disease in which brain cells are damaged when a blood vessel in the brain becomes blocked or bursts. This can lead to serious aftereffects and even be life-threatening. The most common cause is a blood clot or lipids in an artery blocking a cerebral blood vessel.
A research team led by Professor Christopher Murray of the Department of Health Diagnostics at the University of Washington analyzed stroke data from 204 countries from 1990 to 2021. They found that the number of stroke patients increased by 70%, and the number of stroke-related deaths increased by 44%.
The research team calculated how much 23 risk factors contributed to the development of stroke. The 23 risk factors were ▲ambient fine dust pollution ▲household air pollution ▲low temperature ▲high temperature ▲lead exposure ▲diet high in sodium ▲diet high in red meat ▲diet high in processed meat ▲diet low in fruit ▲diet low in vegetables ▲diet low in whole grains ▲diet low in alcohol ▲diet high in sugary drinks ▲diet low in fiber ▲diet low in polyunsaturated fatty acids ▲low physical activity ▲smoking ▲exposure to secondhand smoke ▲high BMI ▲high fasting blood sugar ▲high systolic blood pressure ▲high LDL cholesterol ▲low glomerular filtration rate (GFR).
The results showed that the factor that significantly increased the stroke burden over the 30 years was high BMI, which was confirmed to have an 88.2% effect on the stroke burden. Next were ▲ high temperature (72.4%) ▲ high fasting blood sugar (32.1%) ▲ diet high in sugary drinks (23.4%) ▲ low physical activity (11.3%) ▲ high systolic blood pressure (6.7%) ▲ lead exposure (6.5%) ▲ diet low in omega-6 fatty acids among polyunsaturated fatty acids (5.3%). Among dietary habits, consumption of sugary drinks and lack of omega-6 fatty acids were identified as the main factors increasing the stroke burden.
Omega-6 fatty acids are found primarily in vegetable oils such as corn oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, and canola oil. However, excessive intake is not recommended. Consuming too much omega-6 can cause blood clots and increase the risk of stroke. A daily intake of 2,000 to 8,000 mg is recommended.
The research team said, "We found that 84% of strokes were associated with 23 modifiable risk factors," adding, "Interventions focusing specifically on obesity and metabolic syndrome are needed."
Meanwhile, the results of this study were recently published in the international academic journal 'Lancet Neurology'.
