[Story] I thought it was a migraine, but it turned out to be occipital neuralgia!?
Hello. I ended up going to the hospital again today. 🤦
I often experience headaches even during normal times. I always keep Tylenol at home as an over-the-counter medication. However, there have been cases where the headache pattern is different from usual. In those cases, Tylenol doesn't help.
Pain severe enough to prevent sleep, waking me up from sleep due to pain, and even sitting down on the roadside because of the pain. Typical headaches are said not to be so intense as to wake you up when you fall asleep. So, I suspected it might be migraines and visited the hospital a year ago.
The diagnosis is neuralgia occipitalis; let's look into what neuralgia occipitalis is.
I diligently took the prescribed medication for 10 days after a brain blood flow test and a headache lumbar puncture a year ago.
And today I visited the hospital again after a year. I had been enduring a headache that started last Friday with over-the-counter medication. Honestly, I was hesitant to go to the hospital right away because I was experiencing multiple symptoms simultaneously.
Three days before the headache started on Friday, I developed blisters on my lips. Then the headache began, so I wondered if it was shingles, but with the start of the natural cycle, I thought it might be menstrual syndrome. However, it could also be salivary gland inflammation (chronic parotitis), which can cause facial contour changes.
According to the director's words
It is indeed neural occipital headache! Although multiple symptoms overlapped, there is no reason to suspect another disease. There is definitely a problematic area among the nerves connecting the neck to the head, but unless surgery is planned, testing is meaningless. Since the patient is young (I guess I am young), surgery is also not advisable. If symptoms occur, do not endure them; come immediately and take medication.
Medical expenses are 5,100 won, and the medication costs 13,000 won... Let's not get sick. Don't hurt, so we can earn money 😅
The cost of the medication I bought from the pharmacy was higher than the hospital bill plus the prescription drug cost...
And if you're in pain, don't hesitate to go to the hospital immediately! For the improvement of quality of life,
I hope you have a day free from illness today as well.👋
