A testimonial after treatment for a benign tumor called osteoma
It was a really confusing time back then, but it's already been several years.
In the winter of 2019, I felt a very small bump on my forehead when touched.
It has been there for a while, but when I took a picture and saw that it had grown enough to be visible, I thought I shouldn't just leave it alone.
I went to the neighborhood plastic surgery clinic.
Is that just how the plastic surgery clinic is, or was it only there?
Someone who hasn't even met the doctor is just applying anesthetic cream, tearing it off, and taking it out.
I just made a reservation and left.
I arrived on the reservation day, put on the surgical gown, applied anesthetic cream to my forehead, and met with the doctor.
I touched it and thought I might be able to cut it and then sew it back up, but it’s attached to the bone and doesn’t move.
They're telling me to go to a big hospital.ㅠ.ㅠ If I had met the doctor from the beginning, I wouldn't have come twice, really.
So, I made an appointment at Nowon Eulji Hospital's plastic surgery department and went there.
The plastic surgeon felt it and said it might be a bone tumor, so he scheduled an ultrasound appointment and asked to see me again.
So, after an ultrasound, (big hospitals are really inconvenient because you have to go several times).
A few days later, I went to check the results, but my appointment time had come, and the results still hadn't been available.
Since then, I've been so scared that I was trembling.
After waiting for a long time and entering the consultation room, I was told that the cyst was deep, and if they scraped the bone, they might even see the brain.
It was really very scary to do.
So, I was directly referred to neurosurgery and received treatment on the same day.
The neurosurgeon told me to go get a city scan immediately, so I did and waited.
They just said it's attached to the bone and since it's small, let's do the surgery tomorrow, and I really thought my eyes were going to pop out.
He said he would just do local anesthesia on the forehead and that it would be over quickly.
The next day, I went into the operating room, lay on the operating table fully conscious, and received several injections in my forehead.
The surgery was finished and I came out in just 30 minutes.
Eventually, the anesthesia gradually wore off, and I could feel the needles going in.
At first, when I cut my forehead with a surgical knife, I could immediately feel the difference between tearing through the muscle layer and just the skin.
It was very scary, but it would have been over in 30 minutes. I didn't want to be hospitalized and undergo general anesthesia.
After the surgery, I really felt like I had become Frankenstein for a while, but now, after a few years,
Fortunately, the scar is barely visible.
It seems that osteomas can develop on the forehead or scalp as well as in various other areas.
I think they said they don't know the cause.
I asked them to sew it nicely because of the scar, and I thank the professor who even finished sewing it himself. Haha
