Review of reconstructive surgery for a broken nose caused by a baseball hit
![]()
Three months ago, I was walking with a friend along a trail to downtown, and we went out for a meal and a cup of coffee after a long time. On the way back, my friend was playing catch and the ball hit his face, breaking his nose. After receiving treatment, he underwent nose reconstruction surgery, and he said he was quite satisfied because his nose looked prettier than before.
Originally, I never even thought about plastic surgery and wasn't really interested in it at all, but after my nose collapsed recently, I heard I needed reconstructive surgery, and even while lying in the hospital receiving treatment because it hurt, I was hearing all sorts of stories.
When I had rhinoplasty, I was told that by adding implants and raising the bridge and tip, I could end up with a very beautiful nose, which made me happy. I was glad because of the positive outlook, but I also had some concerns. It wasn't a cosmetic rhinoplasty, after all.
I wondered if it was okay to do that, and since it happened while we were eating together and coming back, the person I was playing catch with was also very surprised and kept coming to the hospital to apologize, but I was surprised to see that it seemed okay.
On the day I was about to undergo my highly anticipated nose surgery, my friend said she would go and come back smiling. Honestly, since I was also receiving a standard procedure along with cosmetic enhancements, I heard that I might have to give up some aesthetic aspects altogether, but still, hearing that they would make me look pretty in their own way made me think, "Nose surgery is nose surgery," haha.
The results turned out better than expected, and my friend who originally had a slightly hooked nose now has a sleek and slightly higher nose, and he was actually quite satisfied. I heard that they also reconstructed the bone structure, shaved down a bit, and used implants as well.
I was amazed that the functional restoration was well done, and it was a bit heartbreaking to see my friend who had rhinoplasty holding his nose and in pain for a while haha.
