As 'Gold Chee Premium' disappears, gold prices plummet... the decline is 15 times the international market rate
As the "Kimchi Premium," where the domestic gold spot price traded within the country is higher than the international market price, has disappeared, domestic gold prices have plummeted more than 15 times compared to international rates.
According to the Korea Exchange on the 4th, in the KRX gold market, on the 28th of last month, 1 gram of 1 kg gold spot (99.99% gold, 1 kg) was traded at 139,030 won.
This is a price that has dropped 14.98% compared to the closing price of 163,530 won on the 14th of last month. On the 14th of last month, it rose to 168,500 won during trading hours, setting a record high, and then declined on almost every trading day for two weeks.
Meanwhile, international gold prices remained stagnant during the same period.
The international gold spot price, which the Korea Exchange converts from the international gold market price into Korean won and announces per gram, fell from 136,130 won on the 14th of last month to 134,830 won on the 28th of the same month, a 0.95% decrease over two weeks.
In fact, most of the decline in gold prices in the KRX gold market can be attributed to the easing of the 'Kimchi premium' on gold.
On the 14th, the disparity between domestic gold prices and international gold prices reached a peak of 24% during trading hours, and closed at 20.13%, setting a new all-time record.
After concerns about the "Kimchi Premium" on gold prices were raised mainly within the securities industry, the KRX gold price gap rate gradually narrowed, and by the morning of the 28th of last month, it had fallen to around 1%.
At that time, experts maintained a positive investment outlook on gold due to reasons such as increased demand from central banks worldwide and the safe-haven asset preference driven by trade dispute uncertainties. However, they recommended replacing investment assets with gold futures or international gold spot rather than the excessively premium-priced KRX gold spot.

Gold prices have risen significantly, but I heard there's a big difference compared to international prices.
They say everything has sunk.
