'Choco Pie情'.. Breaks the record for the highest overseas sales volume
The 'Choco Pie Jeong (Emotion)', which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, has broken its previous sales record overseas.
On the 27th, Orion announced that last year, the global sales of 'Choco Pie Jeong (Emotion)' exceeded 4 billion units. This is the highest sales volume ever. In terms of revenue, it amounts to 580 billion won.
Choco Pie's emotional connection has surpassed 50 billion units in cumulative sales since its launch in 1974.
The cumulative sales have exceeded 8 trillion won.
It has proven itself as a leading global brand by generating a cumulative sales of 5.5 trillion won, accounting for 67% of total sales, exclusively from overseas. This is an unprecedented achievement in the domestic food industry.
The unique emotional identity of Orion Choco Pie, '情', has been effective not only domestically but also in establishing a presence in the global market. Over 30 years since entering overseas markets, Choco Pie is increasingly recognized among global consumers as a product that transcends generations and shares heartfelt moments with family and friends.
Currently, about 24 types of Choco Pie are sold in over 60 countries worldwide. In Korea, China, Vietnam, Russia, and India, local production facilities have been established, and they are actively targeting the global market.
In China, the Chinese representative brand evaluation organization 'Chnbrand' has ranked first seven times in the 'China Customer Recommendation Index' (C-NPS) in the pie segment. This is an indicator that measures how actively customers are willing to recommend the brand, reflecting customer trust and loyalty.
In Vietnam, it is the number one local pie in market share and is even used on ancestral rites, making it a popular snack among the people.
In Russia, last year, 1.6 billion Choco Pies were sold, accounting for 40% of the global sales, indicating high demand. The local subsidiary produces and sells the most varieties of Choco Pies, with 12 types, including products that incorporate jam reflecting local food culture.
In India, they are targeting the market through localization strategies by introducing differentiated products that combine the most preferred strawberries and mangoes, which are the top-selling fruits among locals.
An Orion official stated, "Choco Pie is a culmination of Orion confectionery technology, combining chocolate, biscuits, and candy techniques," and added, "We will develop Choco Pie into a product that everyone around the world can enjoy, including its unique emotional value."
