Lee Jia, sought direct advice on the pro-Japanese actions of the late Kim Soon-heung... "The conspiracy law should be abolished"
Actress Lee Ji-a (born Kim Ji-a) has apologized regarding the controversy over her grandfather, the late Kim Soon-heung's pro-Japanese activities, and her father Kim Mo's inheritance dispute, and it has been confirmed that she had directly sought advice in the past about her grandfather's pro-Japanese actions.
On the 21st, through her agency BH Entertainment, Lee Ji-a issued an apology, saying, "I deeply recognize my grandfather's historical mistakes and sincerely apologize as a descendant."
Lee Jiah stated, "My grandfather passed away when I was two years old, so I grew up completely unaware of his pro-Japanese activities." She added, "After reading an article about this (the pro-Japanese controversy) in 2011, I visited the Institute for Ethnic Issues and studied related materials to verify the facts." She also expressed her stance, saying, "Even considering the historical context at the time, I believe such actions can never be justified for any reason," and apologized for her grandfather's pro-Japanese activities.
According to Ilgan Sports, Lee Jia personally consulted with Director Lee Mo of the Minjok Problem Research Institute in 2021 regarding her grandfather's pro-Japanese activities. In response to the criticism that Lee Jia is a descendant of pro-Japanese collaborators, Director Lee expressed regret, saying, "The guilt by association system should be abolished."
Director Lee stated, "At that time, Lee Ji-ah did not complain about being unfairly criticized for her ancestor's pro-Japanese actions, but simply accepted the facts as they were and asked about her grandfather and what she should do as a descendant moving forward." He pointed out, "Since it is a family matter, she may feel distressed and need to have some sense of responsibility, but she cannot blame her descendants."
Recently, reports emerged that Kim Mo, the biological father of Lee Jia, is engaged in a legal dispute with his siblings over a 35 billion won land in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, owned by their late father Kim Sun-eung. The siblings accused Kim of forging a power of attorney and using a forged document, and filed a complaint against him for forgery of private documents and use of forged documents. The prosecution concluded there was insufficient evidence and dismissed the case, but the siblings have filed a request for reconsideration (re-evaluation of prosecution).
This incident has once again brought to light the pro-Japanese activities of Kim Soon-heung, the grandfather of Lee Ji-a. He was a capitalist active during the Japanese colonial period, and it has been confirmed that he donated multiple times to the Governor-General of Korea and other entities in the 1930s and 1940s, leading to his classification as a pro-Japanese anti-nationalist collaborator.
As criticism towards herself continued, Lee Ji-ah issued an official statement apologizing for her grandfather's pro-Japanese actions. She also revealed that she had cut ties with her parents over inheritance disputes, stating, "It has been more than ten years since I severed my relationship with my parents due to family issues."

As a licensed professional, you're finally explaining what you should have done all along...
Many descendants of pro-Japanese collaborators are among celebrities, right? I hope they don't just remain silent and actually make some clarifications.
And all illicit assets accumulated through pro-Japanese activities must be forcibly liquidated by the state.
There are so many pro-Japanese collaborators everywhere, and as time passes, it becomes more blurred... It's unfortunate.
