The scale of imports affected by this first tariff measure of his second term amounts to 1.4 trillion dollars, three times the total of his first term, making it difficult to predict the impact on the U.S. economy, including inflation. The governments of Mexico, Canada, and China have all announced retaliatory tariffs, increasing fears that the global trade environment and the world economy will face greater uncertainty. Within the United States, concerns about stagflation (rising prices amid economic slowdown) caused by Trump's tariffs are growing, but President Trump has stated that he is willing to endure the pain for America's golden age, showing no intention of backing down.

The second term of President Trump's administration will impose a 25% tariff on all imported goods entering the United States from Mexico and Canada starting at midnight on the 4th (local time). An exception will be made for energy products from Canada, which will be subject to a lower tariff of 10%. For all imports from China, an additional 10 percentage points will be added to the existing tariffs. This measure follows President Trump signing an executive order on the 1st based on the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), which includes the possibility of increasing tariffs further if Mexico and Canada take retaliatory actions.
