Half of adults will stay home and rest this Lunar New Year... No gift preparations either
The holiday is approaching...
Time really flies, doesn't it?
I am going to my parents' house this time.
There are many people going on trips or relaxing with their families.
The holiday break is long... Actually, I also wanted to travel, but it wasn't easy ㅠㅠ
The number one New Year's gift that people don't disagree on is cash, haha.
Not only do I give my parents pocket money, but I also buy gifts because I don't want to show up empty-handed for no reason.
I also need to prepare New Year's money for my nieces and nephews.
As I get older, I find that I have to let go of more than I receive,ㅠㅠ
Lotte Members announced on the 22nd the results of a survey conducted through the research platform 'Lime' on the 6th to 7th, targeting 2,000 people aged 20 and above.
Among the subjects surveyed, 49.7% responded that they would rest at home during the Lunar New Year holiday, and 31.6% said they would visit their hometown or parents' house.
Outside activities such as domestic travel (9.2%), attending gatherings (4.6%), overseas travel (4.3%), day trips (3.4%), and hotel stays (1.2%) followed. Among these, the response indicating participation in day trips decreased by 10.7 percentage points compared to last year's survey.
43.3% of respondents said they would spend the Lunar New Year holiday with family and relatives, which was higher than the 39.7% who planned to spend it with cohabiting family members. The percentage of people planning to spend Lunar New Year alone was 17.1%.
The most common response regarding plans for Lunar New Year gifts was 'none' (51.9%). Among those planning to give gifts to their parents, the most common answer was preparing cash (41.6%). The expected expenditure for gifts was mostly 100,000 to 200,000 won (31.7%) for parents and grandparents, while others mostly anticipated spending between 50,000 and 100,000 won.
Many respondents (53.7%) said they prepare New Year's money. The appropriate amounts considered were 10,000 to 30,000 won for infants and elementary school students (33.5%), 30,000 to 50,000 won for middle school students (36.4%), 50,000 to 100,000 won for high school students (46.8%), and 100,000 to 200,000 won for college students (35.4%). The reason for not preparing New Year's money was primarily 'financial difficulty,' which increased by 6.3 percentage points from last year to 22.8%.
