In celebration of the upcoming Lunar New Year (29th), the government has increased the discount rate for digital Onnuri gift certificates from 10% to 15%. 

This aims to boost domestic demand through traditional markets while reducing the burden of living costs on the public.

The Ministry of Small and Medium Business Administration announced on the 9th that it will hold the 'Big 4 Event' for digital Onnuri gift certificates from the 10th of this month to the 10th of next month. First, the Ministry will increase the discount rate for digital gift certificates from the existing 10% to 15%. The Ministry explained, "In celebration of the Lunar New Year, we increased the discount rate by 5 percentage points to ease the financial burden on citizens purchasing ritual items at traditional markets and other places."

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups has decided to refund digital gift certificates up to 15% when paying with digital gift certificates. The refunds will be made in four installments. Each installment allows a maximum refund of 20,000 won per person based on the cumulative payment amount for both card and mobile types. The minimum payment amount required for a refund is 7,000 won.

When using digital gift certificates for a special discount event at 12 online traditional market centers, including Onnuri Market and Onnuri Traditional Market, a 5% discount coupon can also be applied. By combining digital gift certificate purchase discounts (15%), refund events (15%), and discount coupons (5%) at the online traditional market centers, customers can enjoy up to a 35% discount on their purchases.

A lottery event will also be held. Customers who spend a total of 30,000 won or more both online and offline will be automatically entered. Next month, through a draw, digital gift cards will be given to 2,025 users of card and mobile gift certificates. Lee Dae-geon, Director of Small Business Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, "We hope that through digital gift card discount sales and refund events for the Lunar New Year, consumers will feel relief from the burden of holiday shopping prices."
