K-Pass, 30% discount on transportation for two children ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Do you use the K Pass?

Starting this year, in addition to the existing categories of general, youth, and low-income groups, a new category called 'multi-child family' will be introduced within the K-PASS.

This also appears to be one of the policies encouraging childbirth.

The multi-child household type is when there are a total of two or more children, and at least one of the children is 18 years old or younger, allowing parents to receive refund benefits.

The refund rate for families with multiple children is 30% when they have two children and 50% when they have three or more children, so the discount is quite significant.

If you are eligible, be sure to get certified and receive the benefits~

ย

Method: In the K Pass app, go to My Menu - Multi-Child Information, verify the type through real-time verification, then apply for the discount benefit (increased refund rate).

K-Pass, 30% transportation discount for two children ยฉ MoneyToday

Multi-child households will also be able to enjoy separate K-Pass refund benefits.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Greater Metropolitan Transportation Committee announced on the 2nd that starting this year, a multi-child household type will be added to the K-PASS, and participating local governments and card companies will also be expanded.

K-Pass is a transportation card that allows users to receive a certain percentage of their expenditure back in the following month (20% for the general public, 30% for youth, and 53.3% for low-income groups) when they regularly use public transportation at least 15 times a month, up to a maximum of 60 times per month (up to 2 times per day). Since its implementation in May of last year, approximately 2.65 million people have been using it as of the end of the year.

Starting this year, in addition to the existing categories of general, youth, and low-income groups, a new 'multi-child family' category will be established within the K-PASS, applying a separate refund rate to expand benefits. Those who fall under the multi-child family category must have a total of two or more children, and parents can receive refund benefits if at least one of their children is 18 years old or younger.

ย

The refund rate for multi-child types is 30% when there are 2 children and 50% when there are 3 or more children, each 10 percentage points and 30 percentage points higher than the general population, respectively. For example, user A (40 years old) with three or more children who takes 60 public transportation rides costing 1,500 won each can receive an additional refund of 27,000 won due to the establishment of the multi-child type.

Users of this type can verify their eligibility in real-time through the 'My Menu - Multi-Child Information' section of the K-Pass application or website, and then apply for an increased refund rate.

In cases where real-time verification is not possible, including situations where the household head is not the only one or where the addresses of parents and children differ, multi-child household type can be verified through the registration of separate supporting documents (family relationship certificate).

Meanwhile, starting this year, the participating local governments in K-Pass will expand from the existing 189 basic local governments to 210, with 21 additional local governments (such as Gimje, Mungyeong, Sokcho, etc.) joining. All local governments except for 19, including 7 in Jeonnam, 9 in Gyeongbuk, and 3 in Gangwon, are expected to participate.

Following K Pass-Gyeonggi (The Gyeonggi Pass), K Pass-Incheon (Incheon I-Pass), and others, Gwangju Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangnam-do will implement customized K-Passes starting this month to expand regional benefits.

The number of card companies participating in the K-Pass program has expanded from the original 11 to 13, allowing users to choose from 32 types of cards, an increase of 5 additional options.

Kang Hee-eop, the Chairman of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Grand Committee, stated, "Since the implementation of K-Pass in May last year, users have received an average refund of about 18,000 won, which helped reduce the public's transportation expenses." He added, "According to user satisfaction surveys, the number of public transportation trips increased by an average of 6.3 times per month before and after using K-Pass, indicating a positive effect on revitalizing public transportation."

He emphasized, "We will continue to work closely with relevant organizations such as local governments and card companies so that more citizens can receive greater benefits through the K-Pass in the future."
