Yesterday (the 20th) around 12:41 PM, a man in his 40s drowned near Rainbow Bridge in Buri-myeon, Geumsan County, Chungnam.

The wife reported that her husband had fallen into the water and was not visible. The fire department and police, who responded to the call, rescued Mr. A (in his 40s) from the river, but he ultimately passed away.

Mr. A, who resides in Daejeon, was enjoying a vacation near Rainbow Bridge with his wife and two preschool children when he was involved in an incident.

According to the police, when his daughter's hat was blown away by the wind and fell into the river, he went to retrieve it and fell into a 2-meter-deep pond, unable to get out.

Three days ago, a couple in their 50s who were playing in the water in this area drowned, and the fire department responded to rescue them, but unfortunately, the wife ultimately died in the accident.

This area, where the tributaries of the Geumgang River flow, is well-equipped with auto-camping sites and neighborhood park facilities, making it a popular spot for tent camping, freshwater snail gathering, and water play visitors.

A police official stated, "Local residents are aware of the area as a relatively shallow place, but it appears that deep puddles have formed in various locations due to heavy rain last month," and added, "The current speed has also increased, so caution is needed when entering the water."
