Emart removes yellow shopping baskets... The newly introduced basket design is a hit
When it comes to Emart, it was the yellow shopping basket, haha.
They are seeking change.
It looks fresh and beautiful~
Made from recycled PET bottles, it is resistant to pollution and produced in three sizes, making it suitable for various uses. So, it might be a good idea to purchase one just in case you go without a shopping basket.
Emart switches from rental method to paid sale for shopping carts.
Emart is switching the shopping carts it has been operating through a 'rental' system to a 'sales' system. This is interpreted as an effort to strengthen environmentally friendly elements.
On the 12th, Emart announced through its official website that starting from that day, the shopping carts with new materials and designs would be designated as 'for sale'.
Earlier, Emart rented small yellow shopping baskets for 500 won, and large baskets and coolers for 3,000 won. If they were used and returned cleanly, the amount paid at the time of rental was refunded in cash.
Purpose to increase the actual usage rate of shopping baskets used for environmental protection
The 'rental' method of shopping carts provided great convenience to supermarket customers, but over time, as customers did not properly return the carts after use, this method is believed to have been discontinued.
Emart announced to Insight that "since many customers rent the existing shopping baskets for each use, we have switched to a paid sale starting today (the 12th) to strengthen the eco-friendly aspect of our original intention," and stated, "This is a measure to increase actual usage for the environment."
The new shopping basket is made from recycled PET bottles, unlike the existing disposable non-woven fabric rental baskets that cannot be reused once contaminated. It is resistant to contamination and is available in three sizes for different uses.
The designs have become more diverse, which seems sufficient to increase customer satisfaction. The new shopping basket, available in five different designs, features a white otter combined with natural elements such as flowers, mountains, lakes, and grass leaves, giving it a fresh appearance.
New shopping baskets are sold at reasonable prices: small and medium sizes are 600 won each, while coolers and large shopping baskets are 1,900 won each.
New shopping carts categorized as 'for sale products' can be exchanged or refunded within 30 days of purchase by bringing the receipt to the purchase store and paying with the original payment method, similar to the refund policy for regular products. This is only applicable to 'normal products' that can be resold.
Meanwhile, Emart announced that they will return the shopping carts previously operated through a rental system, such as 'Haedal', 'Half-moon Bear', 'Elephant', and 'Randy Cooler Bag 4 types', by August 11, 2027.
