A man secretly drugged a woman's drink... caught by citizens' sharp eyes

Oh.. bad person!!!

Fortunately, there was someone watching over me nearby.

It would have been a big problem if it hadn't been.

Be cautious of drinks or snacks given by strangers you just met ㅠㅠ

Please make sure to tell the children once in a while.

I heard that there are many cases where snacks are shared even in front of the school.

A pub located in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, around 10 PM on April 3rd.

Ms. Hong (21) was watching a movie with her girlfriend and enjoying "chimaek" (chicken and beer).

A suspicious sight caught Hong's eye.

A man in his 50s, Mr. A, sitting next to Mr. Hong, briefly left his seat with two women and then returned alone. He then secretly poured a powder from a plastic bag containing white powder into the glass of one of the women present. At that time, the two women had left their seats to go to the bathroom. When they returned, Mr. A offered a toast and encouraged them to drink their glasses.

However, according to the investigation by Seoul Gangbuk Police Station, the white powder found in Mr. A's drink at the time was identified as a controlled substance. Mr. A denied the charges during the investigation, but the police applied for an arrest warrant for him on charges of violating drug control laws and attempted special assault. Mr. A, who was detained on the 2nd, was transferred to the prosecution four days later.

The police understood that Mr. A prepared drug substances in advance and committed the crime against the victim, whom he met for the first time through an impromptu meeting. The police stated, "These drugs have no taste or smell, so they are often added to alcohol secretly to commit additional crimes."

There is a case where a prison sentence was handed down for an incident similar to Mr. A's crime. In September of last year, Judge Moon Jong-cheol of the Criminal Division 7 of Incheon District Court sentenced Mr. B (62) to 2 years and 6 months in prison for violating the Act on the Control of Narcotics, etc. (psychotropic drugs). Mr. B was brought to trial for secretly putting drugs into the alcohol of a woman he met for the first time at a restaurant in Dong-gu, Incheon, in April of last year.

The police awarded Mr. Hong a commendation plaque on the 14th. Mr. Hong told JoongAng Ilbo over the phone, "It happened right in the middle of a busy street, so I still can't believe it," and "Not only me, but anyone else would have reported it to the police."
