National table tennis player Jeon Ji-hee was a naturalized player~ I just found out now.

Jeon Ji-hee (32, Mirae Asset Securities), a member of the South Korean women's table tennis team, has participated in the Olympics three times in a row but has not yet won a medal. She is only one win away from her first Olympic medal in her playing career.

Shin Yu-bin, Lee Eun-hye (both from Korean Air), and Jeon Ji-hee (from Mirae Asset Securities) formed the Korean women's national team, which on the 6th defeated Sweden 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the women's team event at the 2024 Paris Olympics table tennis held at the South Paris Arena in France.

Jeon Jihee, born in Hebei Province, China, is a player who naturalized in 2011. She was a promising talent, having been selected for China's youth table tennis national team during her childhood, but she was unable to be selected for the adult national team due to fierce competition in Chinese table tennis. At that time, Seoul City Hall coach Kim Hyung-seok recognized her potential and offered her an invitation to join, which she accepted, beginning her life in Korea. She continued her playing career in Korea and obtained Korean nationality in 2011.

He played as a naturalized player and was also selected for the Korean national team. He participated in three consecutive Olympics from the Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016 to this Paris Games. However, he rarely had a connection with Olympic medals.

Meeting Shin Yu-bin (Korean Air), who joined the national team ahead of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, opened up new possibilities. Jeon Ji-hee and Shin Yu-bin became a 'fantastic pair,' winning a silver medal in women's doubles at the 2023 Durban World Championships and a gold medal in women's doubles at the Hangzhou Asian Games, nurturing their dream of an Olympic medal.

Jeon Ji-hee, after winning the women's team quarterfinals, was asked, "Looking back on the past 13 years, what do you think?" She replied, "I won't look back. If I look back, it’s useless, and what's more important is how I move forward." She added, "Looking ahead, I can have hope and be happy."

The semifinal opponent in the women's team event will be the winner of the match between China and Taiwan on the 7th. China, the strongest country in table tennis, is likely to advance. Jeon Ji-hee, who considers this tournament her last Olympics, said, "This is really the last now. I want to finish beautifully and without regrets."
