The disaster film 'Twisters,' directed by Korean-American filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung, who made the movie 'Minari' (2020), topped the North American box office in its opening weekend.

Twisters earned $80.5 million from the 19th to the 21st (local time), ranking first at the box office. Outside North America, it has grossed $42.7 million, bringing the total worldwide revenue to $123.2 million (approximately 171.06 billion won).

The film features Glenn Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos. It tells the story of climate scientists facing unpredictable tornadoes. It is also a sequel to the 1996 film 'Twister'.

Earlier, North American media predicted that Twisters would generate approximately 50 million dollars in revenue over the weekend, but the actual revenue significantly exceeded expectations. It is being praised as a work that combines action and emotion well, and it is expected to continue its box office success for some time.
