10-month-old girl with hair growing only on her forehead…

Is congenital 'this disease' the cause?

A New Zealand baby with hair growing only on its forehead has become a hot topic after photos were released.

On the 16th (local time), the British media outlet The Mirror reported the story of a New Zealand baby born with a congenital birthmark.

Lulu, a 10-month-old girl living in Timaru, New Zealand,

He was born with a large congenital nevus on the upper forehead.

The pediatrician who treated Lulu said that there is a possibility this mole could develop into cancer.

Therefore, it was diagnosed that we need to monitor whether it worsens.

Lulu's mother, Claire Burt (32), visited a dermatologist out of anxiety, and

The doctor said, "Although it is unlikely to develop into cancer, please visit immediately if the mole changes."

Claire said, "When Lulu gets bigger, we will take an MRI to check if there are any problems inside her head."

"I will let the child decide for themselves whether or not to have surgery to remove the mole when they get older," he said.

Congenital melanocytic nevi are usually harmless to the body and do not cause any symptoms.

However, most moles grow in size as the body grows.

In Lulu's case, since she is 10 months old, the size of the birthmark may increase as she grows.

If it grows to a diameter of 20 cm or more in adulthood, it is called a 'giant nevus'.

In large congenital melanocytic nevi, such as giant nevi, additional benign nevi may develop.

Also, if the mole continues to grow, you should suspect malignant melanoma.

Malignant melanoma is difficult to completely remove, so it requires multiple stages of surgery or cryotherapy.

Therefore, it is advisable to periodically get diagnosed for malignancy.

If the color of the mole

▲ It is getting dark

▲ or become bumpy

▲ As the shape becomes irregular

If the color changes, you must visit a hospital immediately for an examination.
