Don't just leave your umbrella wet from the rain. Dry it like this to prolong its life.
Don't just leave a wet umbrella lying around; dry it 'like this' to make it last longer.
Many people are using umbrellas due to the heavy rain this morning.
How should you properly store an umbrella when it gets soaked in heavy rain?
◇ Wipe once and dry
It is better to wash a wet umbrella before drying it rather than letting it air dry as is.
If you only dry an umbrella without washing it, its waterproofing function may decrease.
The fabric is also easily soiled and damaged.
When washing an umbrella, you can remove the acidic components of rainwater and dust from the umbrella by spraying tap water.
It is a good idea to scrub the umbrella with a brush or sponge soaked in neutral detergent once or twice a month and rinse it with water.
◇ The handle must face downward to prevent rust
When storing an umbrella, it is best to have the handle facing downward.
The tip of the umbrella tends to rust easily because water tends to accumulate there.
Even when drying a wet umbrella by opening it, you must make sure to dry it with the handle facing downward.
Wiping the umbrella shaft and ribs with a dry towel and letting them dry is also helpful.
◇ If it is already rusted, use toothpaste or acetone
If the umbrella shaft is rusted red, you can wipe it off by applying toothpaste or acetone to a cotton ball or cotton swab.
Acetone and melting water are both 'polar molecules,' so they disappear when they come into contact with each other.
The abrasives and bleaching ingredients in toothpaste are also effective for removing rust.
In addition, using tomato ketchup is also a method.
The lycopene in tomatoes removes rust and prevents oxidation.
Apply ketchup to the rusted area, wait about 30 minutes, and then wipe it off with a dry cloth or scouring pad.
