Taiwan earthquake rumor

TSMC: Temporary suspension of new factory construction in Taiwan (Bloomberg)

TSMC rumor

1. Wafer lead time: 21 to 24 days

2. Discard all wafers currently in process (misalignment of the alignment frame)

3. The following must be checked: all utilities and equipment alignment at the radiology department.

Considering that there is no power supply disruption due to the earthquake and normal operation, it is approximately 1 to 1.5 months.

4. No production volume, the important thing is that most set companies will launch numerous new products after summer to drive sales until the end of the year, so products can only be produced if delivered by June.

1. The term "lead time" seems to refer to TAT, but I'm not sure which nanometer process it is. The note indicating less than a month is probably related to a legacy process.

2. The cause of the complete wafer disposal during processing is said to be misalignment, but issues caused by misalignment only occur during track burn-in.
Masks can be sufficiently used if they are properly R/W processed after being deformed.

Setting up the R/W route is fundamental.

3. Cleanliness within the line can indeed be an issue. For now, during the process, PT Attacks caused by disruptions like Plasma and other atmospheres are unavoidable. However, I don't think all lot scrap processing will be done. Everything placed on the EFEM will be salvaged. Of course, restoring the power that has gone out might take some time.

4. If production volume drops that much, Korea's GDP could fall by 20-30% lol

TSMC produces CPUs, while Samsung manufactures memory.
Due to this major earthquake, TSMC's production is expected to be unavailable for 1 to 1.5 months, and Samsung and SK Hynix in Korea could also be affected.
