Typhoon No. 1 'Udip' occurs this year... nationwide rain this weekend due to indirect effects

Today (the 11th), the year's first typhoon has occurred.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Typhoon Udeab, the first typhoon of the year, formed around 580 km east of Da Nang, Vietnam, at approximately 9 a.m. today.

The typhoon is expected to move northward toward Guangdong Province, China, tomorrow (the 12th) and the day after tomorrow (the 13th), then weaken into a tropical depression and dissipate inland southwest of Shanghai, China, on the 16th.

It is unlikely that this typhoon will have a direct impact on our country.

However, as the water vapor brought by the typhoon flows into the country, there is a possibility of heavy rain across the nation this weekend.

This typhoon Udeip is named after a butterfly submitted from Macau.

Typhoon Udeep is the fifth latest Typhoon No. 1 to occur since 1951, when typhoon statistics began.

The first typhoon of the year occurring in June is the first time in nine years since 2016. Usually, an average of 2 to 3 typhoons occur by May.
