Cha Cheol-nam arrested for weapons disturbance in Siheung...

According to the Siheung Police Station in Gyeonggi and News1 on the 20th, Chinese national Mr. Cha was urgently arrested around 8:30 PM the previous day on charges including murder and was taken to the police station.

Mr. Cha, who got out of the escort vehicle, was wearing a black jumper with a cap turned backwards and a white mask. When asked by reporters if he had anything to say to the victims, he replied, "It hurts my heart."

When asked why he murdered the victims, he claimed, "There was an economic transaction. I lent them money, but they didn't repay it for 12 years." When asked whether the crime was premeditated and about his relationship with the victims, he remained silent and did not respond.

Mr. Cha is suspected of killing two people a few days ago and, the day before, causing injuries to two others with a weapon during a disturbance in Siheung City, Gyeonggi Province.

 

Mr. Cha stabbed the owner, a woman in her 60s named Ms. A, at a convenience store in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung City, around 9:34 a.m. the previous day and fled. Ms. A sustained serious injuries to her neck and face and is receiving treatment at the hospital, but her condition is critical.

Afterward, Mr. Cha stabbed a man in his 70s, Mr. B, in the abdomen with a knife at the sports park parking lot, about 1.3 km away from the convenience store, around 1:21 PM. Mr. B is the landlord of Mr. Cha's residence building and is reported to be in stable condition.

The police, who launched an investigation, suspected that a vehicle passing in front of a convenience store might be the suspect's vehicle. Through vehicle registration inquiry, they confirmed that the owner was a man in his 50s of Chinese nationality, Mr. C, and went to his house. During the search of his residence, the police discovered Mr. C's severely decomposed body.

Later, the body of Mr. D, a Chinese man in his 50s, was found at Mr. Cha's house across from A's convenience store. Mr. C and Mr. D are known to be brothers.

The police issued a public warrant for Mr. Cha and were tracking him down when they apprehended him around 7:25 PM on the same day near the Sihwa Lake in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung City. It is reported that Mr. Cha, who was arrested at the scene, confessed to all the crimes. The police are currently investigating the motive and details of the crimes with Mr. Cha and plan to apply for a detention warrant soon.

The police officials plan to request an autopsy at the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to determine the exact cause of death of the victims' bodies.
