Inje County paid 500 million won in taxes to Baek Jong-won on YouTube last year... one-third of the festival budget
It has been revealed that Inje County in Gangwon Province paid over 500 million won in taxes to The Born Korea, a subsidiary of CEO Baek Jong-won. The condition was to produce promotional videos for local festivals and upload them to CEO Baek's YouTube channel. The amount paid accounts for one-third of the budget for Inje County's local festivals.
According to the Inje County Cultural Foundation on the 28th, Inje County paid 550 million won to TMC Entertainment, a subsidiary of The Born Korea, for promotional expenses related to a local festival held from June 14 to 23 last year. The condition was to produce and broadcast two promotional videos on Baek Jong-won's YouTube channel.
It accounts for 28% of the local festival budget (1.95 billion won). According to the contract, CEO Baek uploaded videos on YouTube on June 9 and July 8 of last year titled "I've worked hard for several days" and "Attention to people tired of festival overcharging," respectively. The two videos received 850,000 and 560,000 views each.
Public opinion is cold. This is because the 'drum barrel grill' and 'pesticide spray bottle,' which caused controversy at other regional festivals used by CEO Baek, were also used at the Inje festival. There are also criticisms that Inje County has invested an excessively large amount of public funds. As a result, Inje County has decided not to collaborate this year.
