Caught again... Chinese nationals caught taking unauthorized photos at an Air Force base

Following the recent incident where Chinese nationals were caught secretly filming fighter jets near an Air Force base in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province last month, Chinese nationals attempting to film without permission near Osan Air Base (K-55), a U.S. military facility in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, were also caught.

Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency's Security Investigation Division announced on the 21st that they are reviewing whether to formally charge two individuals, including Chinese national A, with violations of the Military Base and Military Facility Protection Act.

Mr. A and others are suspected of taking unauthorized photographs near Osan Air Base, a U.S. military facility, around 9 a.m. that day.

It is reported that they used the cameras they possessed to take pictures of bases and fighter jets.

 

The specific types of facilities or equipment shown in the photo have not been disclosed.

The police are investigating this incident jointly with the National Intelligence Service and the Army Counterintelligence Command.

A similar incident occurred recently as well. On the 21st of last month, two Chinese teenagers were caught near the Suwon Air Force Base, where the 10th Fighter Wing is stationed, for illegally filming fighter jets taking off and landing using cameras and mobile phones.

According to the investigation, it was found that they entered the country on a tourist visa without a guide three days before the incident occurred. A large number of photos of our fighter jets in flight were found on Mr. A's camera and mobile phone.

The police have obtained a statement that one of their fathers is a public security officer and are officially charging and investigating them.
