The wildfire that occurred in the Yeongnam region is struggling to be contained due to dry weather and strong winds. This is caused by the 'flying fire' phenomenon, where embers are carried far away, igniting new fires in surrounding areas.

On the 25th, the Korea Forest Service announced that a wildfire is continuously spreading in the Uiseong area, driven by a south-southwest wind blowing at a speed of 5.2 meters per second. As of that day, the affected area of the wildfire has reached approximately 14,000 square meters, with the containment rate fluctuating around 60%.

The large wildfire in Uiseong spread to the Andong area. The fire that broke out in Anpyeong-myeon, Uiseong, on the 22nd expanded to Geumseong-myeon and by around 4 p.m. on the 24th, it engulfed Gilan-myeon in Andong. The wildfire that spread from Anpyeong-myeon towards Dongan-dong also extended to Pungcheon-myeon.

 

As the wildfire spreads, 356 residents from Gilan-myeon, Im-myeon, Iljik-myeon, and Namseon-myeon in Andong, along with 770 facility residents, have taken refuge in gyms, village halls, and nursing institutions. Pungcheon-myeon is located approximately 10 km in a straight line from Hahoe Village, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city of Andong has issued an evacuation order for Hahoe Village residents.

The wildfire in Ulsan Ulju-gun once reached a 98% containment rate but is now struggling to be controlled due to strong winds. On this day, the wildfire approached close to a large apartment complex, prompting residents to activate fire hydrants and respond in the early stages. Forestry authorities issued evacuation orders for areas including Songdae-ri, Hyangsan-ri in Sangbuk-myeon, Yangwoon Nae-an Apartment, and Ulsan Nursery.

The wildfire that occurred in Sancheong Sicheon-myeon, Gyeongnam, has continued for five days, spreading to nearby Hadong Okjong-myeon and further expanding near Jirisan National Park. The fire at one point approached within approximately 500 meters of Jirisan National Park. The Korea Forest Service is mobilizing all relevant resources, including 32 helicopters, 2,122 personnel, and 215 vehicles, to continue firefighting efforts.

The head of the Gogi-dong Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters announced at a Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting held at the Government Seoul Office that "the area affected by the wildfire so far is approximately 14,694 hectares, and the damage area has increased, with 15 casualties." Director Go stated, "The weather conditions, including strong winds, dry weather, and haze, are not favorable, making firefighting efforts difficult, and more than 3,300 residents are staying in temporary shelters."

According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, wildfires occurred in four locations: Sancheong and Hadong in Gyeongnam, Uiseong in Gyeongbuk, Ulju in Ulsan, and Gimhae in Gyeongnam.
