Rapid increase in Korean men marrying Japanese women

Last year, the number of marriages exceeded 200,000 for the first time in four years since 2020, as exchanges between Korean and Japanese youth increased.

According to the Statistics Korea '2024 Marriage and Divorce Statistics' on the 23rd, there were 1,176 marriages between Korean men and Japanese women last year.

He said, "It appears that international marriages between Korea and Japan have increased during the process."

 

International marriages have shown a notable overall increase. Last year, marriages with foreigners totaled 21,000, a 5.3% increase from the previous year. In particular, marriages with foreign women reached 16,000, a 6.2% increase, and marriages with foreign men totaled 5,000, a 2.6% increase.
