Male fox captured in downtown Jeonju, transferred to the zoo... open to the public

A male fox captured in downtown Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do last month was admitted to Jeonju Zoo and publicly displayed.

According to Jeonju Zoo on the 20th, a report was received on the morning of the 11th of last month that a fox was wandering in the tennis court within Deokjin Sports Park in Jeonju City, and the Jeonju City Animal Capture Team and Animal Protection Team captured it.

This fox is a hybrid of the red fox and the marble fox, and at the time, it weighed 5.24 kg.

Born last year, it is presumed to have been raised by someone and then lost or abandoned.

Marvel Fox is not an internationally endangered species, so private adoption is possible.

However, considering illegal breeding and ownership disputes, high adoption costs, difficulty in care, and the possibility of re-release, Jeonju City determined that adopting this fox into a regular household was inappropriate and decided to place it in Jeonju Zoo.

Jeonju Zoo checked the health status of this fox, provided it with a habitat, and opened it to the public starting this week.

Former Director Kim Jong-dae of Jeonju Zoo said, "We welcome families who have come with the new spring and will care for them with all our heart."
