Weekend weather: rain or snow forecast, temperatures below freezing

Rain will begin on the early morning of Saturday the 15th along the Jeju and southern coast of Jeonnam, and by the afternoon, it will extend to the southern coast of Gyeongnam. From night onwards, the rain will spread to other parts of Honam and Gyeongnam, excluding the southern coast. In high-altitude mountainous areas, snow may fall instead of rain.

From the afternoon of the 16th until the night, rain or snow will fall across the country.

On the early morning of the 17th, snow and rain will continue in the metropolitan area, inland Gangwon, Chungcheong, northeastern North Jeolla, inland northern Gyeongnam, and Jeju.

The expected weekend rainfall is 10-50mm in Jeju, 10-40mm in Gangwon Mountain Range and East Coast, 5-30mm in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, 5-20mm in inland Gangwon, southern coast of Jeollanam-do, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk, 5-10mm in eastern Gyeonggi and Honam (excluding southern coast of Jeollanam-do), and around 5mm in Seoul, Incheon, western Gyeonggi, West Sea islands, Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo.

Snowfall is expected to be 10 to 20 cm (over 30 cm at maximum) in the Gangwon mountain area, 5 to 20 cm in the northeastern Gyeongbuk mountain area, 5 to 15 cm in the southern inland of Gangwon, 5 to 10 cm in the northern inland of Gyeongbuk, and 3 to 8 cm in eastern Gyeonggi, northern central Gangwon (excluding mountain areas), and northern Chungbuk.

The Korea Meteorological Administration advised to check the latest weather information, stating that even a slight temperature difference can distinguish between rainy and snowy areas, and snowfall differences may occur within the same city or district.

The minimum temperature on the morning of the 15th is expected to be between 1 and 9 degrees, and the maximum daytime temperature is expected to be between 10 and 16 degrees.

The expected minimum and maximum temperatures for major cities are: ▲Seoul 7°C and 16°C ▲Incheon 6°C and 14°C ▲Daejeon 6°C and 15°C ▲Gwangju 7°C and 14°C ▲Daegu 6°C and 12°C ▲Ulsan 8°C and 11°C ▲Busan 9°C and 12°C.

The wind will be strong across the country this weekend.

Strong winds with gusts exceeding 70 km/h (90 km/h in Jeju mountainous areas) are expected to blow from the night of the 14th in Jeju's mid-mountain and mountainous areas, the morning of the 15th along the southern coast of Jeonnam, and from the afternoon of the 16th along the western coast of Chungnam and the western coast of Jeolla.
