Not all white foods are bad... What are the white foods that boost immunity in winter?

White foods such as white rice, white sugar, and white flour are known to be not very good for health. This is because they are high in carbohydrates and contain fewer nutrients like dietary fiber.

 

However, there are white foods that are good for health.

Anthocyanins, a type of flavonoid pigment that produces white color, inhibit oxidation processes in the body. These white foods help eliminate waste products from the body, strengthen resistance to germs and viruses, and are highly effective in boosting immunity.

 

It is a component that must be consumed by cardiovascular disease patients because it has a particularly strong effect of lowering blood cholesterol levels. Based on sources such as India's daily newspaper Times of India, we looked into white foods that boost immunity during the winter season.

Onion

 

Onions have the ability to strengthen immune function and inhibit tumor growth. They help prevent and treat various cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and glaucoma, among many other illnesses. Additionally, they can act as powerful antibiotics and reduce food poisoning caused by microbial infections.

 

Lotus root

 

Lotus root is a representative root vegetable and is in season during winter. It contains over 50 mg of vitamin C per 100g. This is nearly the same amount as in lemons, making it highly effective for boosting immunity and relieving fatigue. In particular, flavonoids help eliminate active oxygen. The mucin, a mucous component of lotus root, has the effect of promoting insulin secretion, making it highly recommended for diabetes patients.

 

Garlic

 

Garlic is one of the world's top 10 superfoods selected by Time magazine and has also ranked first on the list of 48 anticancer foods identified by the American Cancer Institute. The allicin in garlic helps lower blood pressure. Allicin also includes antiviral and antibacterial substances, providing powerful sterilization and antimicrobial effects in the body, aiding in vitamin absorption and boosting immunity. Additionally, the sulfur compounds contained in garlic are highly effective in cancer prevention.

 

Cauliflower

 

Cauliflower looks similar to broccoli, but has less fishy taste and a softer texture. It is rich in powerful antioxidants such as glucosinolates and sulforaphane, which are effective in inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells. Additionally, it is abundant in indole compounds that help eliminate harmful substances from the body and aid in detoxification.

 

Burdock

 

Burdock root has a low calorie content of 73 calories per 100 grams. Its abundant inulin and dietary fiber promote bowel movements and help eliminate accumulated stool. In particular, inulin enhances kidney function, promotes diuretic effects, and is beneficial for reducing swelling. Additionally, palmitic acid inhibits the absorption of sugars and fats in the body, making it effective in preventing obesity and diabetes. The saponins and lignins in burdock root help remove cholesterol from blood vessels, which is good for preventing cardiovascular diseases.

    이렇게 최소 같은 경우에는 연근이나 우엉 은 자주 먹는게 좋을 것 같아요..
