Not everything white is bad... What white foods boost immunity in winter?

White foods such as white rice, white sugar, and white flour are known to be not very good for health. This is because they are high in carbohydrates and low in nutrients such as dietary fiber.

 

However, there are also healthy white foods.

Anthoxanthin, a flavonoid pigment responsible for white color, inhibits oxidation in the body. Such white foods help expel waste from the body and build resistance against bacteria and viruses, making them highly effective in boosting immunity.

 

In particular, it is a must-have ingredient for people with cardiovascular disease due to its significant effect in lowering blood cholesterol. Based on data from sources such as the Indian daily newspaper Times of India, we looked into white foods that boost immunity during the winter.

Onions are effective in strengthening the immune system and inhibiting tumor growth. They help prevent and treat numerous diseases, including various cancers, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and glaucoma. Furthermore, they can act as powerful antibiotics and reduce food poisoning caused by microbial infections.

Lotus root is a representative root vegetable in season during the winter. It contains over 50 mg of Vitamin C per 100 g. This is nearly the same amount found in lemons and is highly effective for boosting immunity and improving fatigue. In particular, flavonoids help eliminate free radicals. Mucin, a mucilaginous component of lotus root, promotes insulin secretion, making it highly recommended for diabetic patients.

Garlic is one of the world's top 10 superfoods selected by Time magazine and ranked first on the list of 48 anti-cancer foods chosen by the American Cancer Institute. Allicin in garlic plays a role in lowering blood pressure. Containing antiviral and antibiotic substances, allicin performs powerful sterilization and antibacterial functions within the body, aids in vitamin absorption, and helps boost immunity. Additionally, the sulfur compounds it contains have excellent effects in preventing cancer.

Cauliflower resembles broccoli in appearance, but it has less of a fishy taste and a softer texture. It is rich in glucosinolates and sulforaphane, powerful antioxidants that are effective in inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells. Additionally, it is rich in indole, which helps eliminate harmful substances from the body and aids in detoxification.

 

burdock

 

Burdock is a low-calorie food, containing 73 calories per 100g. Its abundant inulin and dietary fiber promote bowel movements, making it effective for eliminating accumulated waste. In particular, inulin improves kidney function, promotes diuresis, and helps reduce swelling. Additionally, palmitic acid inhibits the absorption of sugar and fat in the body, offering significant benefits in preventing obesity and diabetes. The saponins and lignin in burdock help remove cholesterol from blood vessels, making it beneficial for preventing cardiovascular diseases.

    이렇게 최소 같은 경우에는 연근이나 우엉 은 자주 먹는게 좋을 것 같아요..
