케토식단 참ㅁ고하고갑니다 ㅎㅎ 암예방글 감사해요 ㅎㅎ
Research has shown that a keto diet helps immune cell function and enhances cancer treatment effectiveness.
The keto diet refers to a "low-carb, high-fat diet" that reduces carbohydrate intake and increases fat intake, and is short for ketogenic diet. It involves reducing the carbohydrate proportion to 5-10% of total caloric intake, with protein making up 15-20% and fat 70-80%.
The keto diet restricts the intake of carbohydrates, the body's main source of energy, causing stored fat to be broken down and used as an alternative energy source.
It is known that during the process of fat breakdown, ketone bodies are produced, and when the blood ketone body levels increase, leading to a state of ketosis, fat breakdown in the body becomes more active.
The research team from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and the Abramson Cancer Center in the United States
Analyzed the effects of keto diet, high-fiber diet, high-fat diet, high-protein diet, and high-cholesterol diet on the tumor-fighting ability of CAR-T cells.
CAR-T therapy is a treatment method that uses a patient's immune cells to kill cancer cells. It involves extracting T cells, which are immune cells in the patient's body, genetically modifying them to attack cancer cells, and then injecting them back into the patient as a personalized treatment.
The analysis showed that the ketogenic diet most effectively activated the tumor-fighting ability of CAR-T cells compared to other diets.
The research team analyzed that beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), a metabolite produced in the liver after a ketogenic diet, suppresses tumor growth and enhances the effectiveness of CAR-T therapy. Since CAR-T cells use BHB as an energy source instead of glucose, increasing BHB levels in the body allows CAR-T cells to more effectively eliminate cancer cells.
As a result of analyzing blood samples from patients who received CAR-T therapy, the research team found that higher BHB levels were associated with greater expansion of CAR-T cells.
Meanwhile, the results of this study were recently presented at the 66th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH).
=============
It's a disease that shouldn't happen even if you get cancer, but
It seems that a ketogenic diet is helpful.
Reduce carbohydrates
Increase fat intake
A diet that is good for immune function
It seems to be ketosis.
