You may have heard the phrase "Eat the rainbow" when it comes to healthy foods. This means that overall health improves when you eat a variety of foods in different colors, like a rainbow. Let's explore the top foods by color as introduced by the American news magazine 'U.S. News & World Report.'

 

Orange sweet potatoes are considered a gold medal food among orange-colored foods due to their natural sweet taste and rich nutrients. Sweet potatoes are abundant in calcium, potassium, copper, niacin, vitamin A, and vitamin C.

 

Red is strawberry = in the red color spectrum of foods, the champion is strawberry. Strawberries are rich in various nutrients and antioxidants. These include anthocyanins, polyphenols, vitamin C, folate, fiber, and potassium.

According to a research team at Harvard University in the United States, women who eat about half a cup of strawberries three times a week are significantly less likely to experience a heart attack compared to women who do not. Additionally, strawberries have the benefits of reducing the risk of stroke and cancer, lowering blood pressure, and alleviating allergy and asthma symptoms.

Blue is blueberry = blueberries make our bodies beautiful. Blueberries help prevent cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and Parkinson's disease. Additionally, blueberries strengthen immune function. Frozen blueberries have the same effect.

 

Purple plums are rich in anthocyanins, a type of antioxidant flavonoid. Studies suggest that anthocyanins help prevent chronic diseases. Research also indicates that plums improve bone mineral density in menopausal women and assist in weight loss in both men and women.

 

Green watercress, also known as creçon in French, is a plant that only grows in clear, first-class water. Also called Western water parsley, watercress is characterized by its unique aroma and sharp, spicy taste, and is frequently used in salads and appetizer dishes. Studies have shown that watercress has a higher nutritional density value than any other food.

 

Yellow and white are popcorn = popcorn made from whole grains. It is a low-calorie snack that contains more antioxidants than any fruit or vegetable. Also low in fat, popcorn is crispy, delicious, and a good source of fiber. However, additives like butter should be avoided as much as possible, and it should be prepared using methods like the microwave.
