Carbohydrates are nutrients that provide energy to our body, but they are directly related to blood sugar and weight gain. Yes, you should consume them in moderation. Experts say that for health, you should control not only the amount of carbohydrates you consume, but also the timing of consumption. When is the best time to consume carbohydrates?
 

For health, it is advisable to consume carbohydrates in the morning.

 

According to a study published in the American health journal "Health," consuming carbohydrates in the morning helps the body properly distribute energy needed for the day and regulate blood sugar levels. Because brain glucose levels gradually decline while we sleep, consuming carbohydrates in the morning is beneficial for maintaining optimal brain function. The brain uses glucose as its energy source to activate neurons.

 

Eating carbohydrates in the morning is more beneficial for weight management than eating them in the evening.

 

Consuming carbohydrates in the morning suppresses hunger and prevents overeating or binge eating at later meals. Consuming carbohydrates in the morning is effective for weight management because it prevents overeating or binge eating at later meals. Consuming carbohydrates in the evening increases the risk of weight gain.

This is because in the evening, when you are relatively less active, the carbohydrates you consume are not fully metabolized and are more likely to be stored as fat in your body.

 

It's best to focus on complex carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates are made up of three or more sugar molecules linked together. Because they have a larger molecular weight than simple sugars, they are absorbed more slowly and raise blood sugar levels more slowly. A study by the German Institute of Human Nutrition found that consuming complex carbohydrates like oatmeal and quinoa in the morning improved memory compared to those who didn't.

 

 

However, consuming only carbohydrates is not a good idea. Eating a balanced breakfast of complex carbohydrates, protein, and fats will have a positive impact on metabolism. This can be achieved by pairing whole-grain cereal or toast with leafy greens like spinach or kale, eggs, or avocado.
