Although I know that natural, unprocessed food is good for the body, I find myself reaching for sweet, processed foods again today. Delivery food is also dominated by greasy dishes high in saturated fat. Since I order delivery so often, the menu is always similar. I miss the home-cooked meals my grandmother used to make. A diet far removed from nature... could this be the reason why inflammation, which used to be rare, has become more common?

Significantly increase visceral fat and Foods that cause inflammation are ?

Eating too much sweet food is bad for your body. Excessive intake of simple sugars, a type of carbohydrate, significantly increases visceral fat and causes inflammation. If you also rarely exercise, unused sugar is converted into fat and accumulates in the body.

Belly fat also develops. Meat fat and other foods high in saturated fat increase triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood, causing vascular inflammation. Eating too much refined carbohydrate is also not good for preventing vascular disease and obesity.

When the body is unwell, inflammation occurs as a natural defense mechanism. While visible skin inflammation is a concern, inflammation deep within the body, which is difficult to detect, is even more dangerous. To maintain internal health, one must consume 'healthy' foods. Let's explore seasonal foods that are beneficial for preventing inflammation.

1) Sweet pumpkin

It is a seasonal food these days. The methionine component reduces toxins in the body, helping to prevent inflammation. It promotes diuresis, which helps reduce swelling. The beta-carotene component slows down aging and contributes to bronchial health, maintaining eyesight, skin beauty, and preventing constipation.

2) green chili peppers

Capsaicin, the component responsible for the spicy taste, is the key substance. It affects blood vessel wall cells to increase prostaglandin, a substance that suppresses gastritis. It prevents the oxidation of brain cell membranes, where harmful free radicals are prone to forming, and helps prevent inflammation in cells.

3) broccoli

Although its taste is a drawback, it contains more Vitamin C than lemons, which performs antioxidant functions by reducing oxidation (damage and aging) in the body. It is also rich in potassium (307 mg per 100 g), which regulates blood pressure and contributes to the excretion of salty substances (sodium) from the body. As a very low-calorie, low-fat food, it provides a feeling of fullness even with a small amount, and its antioxidant properties help prevent cancer.

4) tomato , cherry tomatoes  These are representative foods that are good for preventing inflammation. Lycopene, which gives tomatoes their red color, helps reduce inflammation in the body through its powerful antioxidant properties. In particular, cooking tomatoes and cherry tomatoes further activates the lycopene content. Citrulline helps alleviate symptoms of inflammation, edema, nephritis, cystitis, and urethritis.

5) onion , garlic  The quercetin component in onions inhibits the accumulation of fat and cholesterol in blood vessels. It contributes to preventing inflammation by shielding cells from being attacked by harmful free radicals and lipid peroxides. Chromium is a trace mineral that maintains the homeostasis of glucose (carbohydrate) metabolism. It helps regulate blood sugar by promoting insulin action.

Allicin, the component responsible for garlic's pungent taste, exerts powerful bactericidal and antibacterial effects, reducing food poisoning bacteria and effectively killing even Helicobacter pylori, which causes gastric ulcers and stomach cancer (data from the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences). It also boosts immunity and helps lower cholesterol levels. By reducing blood sugar, it helps prevent and control diabetes, and by aiding in the dissolution of blood clots, it contributes to the prevention of vascular diseases such as arteriosclerosis.
