To soothe anxiety... Eat foods rich in 'this'

Sometimes I also feel overwhelmed by anxiety and don't know what to do.

I believe that anxiety should be managed through changes in behavior or thoughts, but surprisingly, eating certain foods can also help in alleviating anxiety.

Foods that help manage anxiety

I think it would be good for you to look into it before you go.

To soothe anxiety... Eat foods rich in 'this'

Avocado = Avocado is rich in vitamin B, which helps alleviate anxiety. According to previous studies, foods high in vitamin B are associated with reducing anxiety symptoms and lowering feelings of anxiety. Additionally, avocados contain a high amount of healthy fats, specifically unsaturated fatty acids. These fatty acids play an important role in supporting brain function and stabilizing mood. In particular, omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation and improve brain health.

Blueberries = Blueberries are rich in antioxidants and can help alleviate stress. According to a study published in 2019, postmenopausal women who increased their intake of antioxidants showed lower anxiety scores. Additionally, blueberries are abundant in vitamin C. Typically, vitamin C helps lower cortisol levels, a stress hormone, and strengthens the immune system. This can have a positive effect on reducing anxiety and stress.

Calcium-rich foods = According to a study published in 2022, increasing calcium intake may help improve mood. Calcium-rich foods include dairy products like milk and yogurt, as well as vegetables such as spinach and kale. The research team analyzed data from 1,233 college students and observed that students who consumed more dairy products and calcium experienced less stress compared to other students.

Eggs = Anxiety symptoms depend on hormones such as serotonin and dopamine within the nervous system. Egg yolks contain vitamin D, which helps support nervous system function. Additionally, eggs are a good source of high-quality protein. Protein helps stabilize blood sugar levels and provides sustained energy, which aids in stabilizing mood. If our body experiences rapid fluctuations in blood sugar, anxiety and stress can increase, making blood sugar management important.

Leafy greens = According to a study published in 2018, young adults in their early twenties who consumed more vegetables not only became calmer but also experienced increased happiness and vitality in all aspects. Vegetables include dark leafy greens, carrots, and cucumbers. It is unclear whether healthy eating habits come before or after positive thoughts, but researchers advised that healthy eating habits tend to predict a positive mood the next day.

Nuts and Seeds = Experts also mention that zinc deficiency can be linked to anxiety. One ounce of cashews contains about 1.6 milligrams of zinc, accounting for approximately 14% to 20% of the recommended zinc intake for adults. In addition to zinc, magnesium also helps improve mood and anxiety symptoms. Chia seeds and pumpkin seeds are considered good sources of magnesium.
