Misugaru is easy to eat and contains healthy grains such as brown rice and beans. Therefore, it is often consumed as a diet food or meal replacement. However, even misugaru that seems to be good for health can harm your health if not consumed properly, so caution is necessary.

 

◇ Nutrient loss during heat treatment... A proper meal is better

 

If you care about your health, it is better to eat a proper meal rather than replacing it with misutgaru. Misutgaru is made by roasting grains through freeze-drying or heat-drying methods, then grinding them into powder. It is made by mixing about ten different grains, including brown rice, soybeans, barley, glutinous rice, and black beans. However, not all of the nutrients from the grains are fully preserved in misutgaru.

 

When making misutgaru, nutrients such as vitamins can be destroyed by heat during the cooking process of grains. Meals should be composed of foods close to the raw ingredients to stay healthy. It is good to consume a meal that includes a balanced mix of various nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals.


◇ Drinking it quickly causes blood sugar to spike rapidly... leading to obesity and diabetes

 

Misugaru is a processed food made into powder through refining, which can be conveniently consumed by drinking it quickly. However, eating food rapidly can lead to obesity and diabetes. Hormones that induce satiety take about 20 minutes after eating to send signals to the brain, so it is likely to finish eating before feeling full and to seek out other foods. Obesity caused in this way can lead to diabetes. Additionally, the amylase enzyme in saliva, which helps digest and break down carbohydrates when chewing food, may not be released if the food is swallowed like drinking a powdered grain drink, increasing the risk of gastritis.

 

◇Adding sugar or honey exceeds the daily intake amount... Chew thoroughly to taste the natural sweetness

 

Some people add sugars such as sugar or honey to sweeten misutgaru. However, sweet-tasting misutgaru can cause various side effects such as high blood pressure, obesity, and impaired intestinal function. Instead of adding sugar, make sure to chew the misutgaru particles thoroughly. As starch is broken down into sugars, the natural sweetness can be enjoyed.

 

Honey is the same. You might think it's healthier than sugar and safe to use freely, but honey has 64 kcal per tablespoon, which is higher than sugar's 53 kcal. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a daily sugar intake of 25 grams, which is equivalent to one-third of a tablespoon of honey.

    저도 미숫가루가 건강식인줄알았는데
    미숫가루가 엄청난 탄수화물이래요 ㅋㅋㅋ
    실제로 컴포즈에 곡물라떼있는데 그거 한잔에 500칼로리 넘어가요 
    맛은 미숫가루에 설탕 가득넣은 맛인데;;;
    저 그거 한입먹고 남편줬네요

    미숫가루 혈당 올린다고 해서 예전처럼은 못 먹고 있어요.

    새로운 사실이군요. 저도 미숫가루를 너무 좋아하는데 그렇다면 미숫가루를 저 같은 경우도 꿀과 함께 넣어서 약간 희석해서 물과 함께 희석해서 호르마신다든지 그렇게 더워서 간혹 시원하게도 마시고 그런 게 미숫가루인 줄 알았는데 일일이 씹어먹듯이 해야 된다는 게 조금은 부담스럽기는 하네요.

     미숫가루 먹을때 보통보면 설탕이나
    꿀을 많이 넣게 되는것 같아서   자주 안먹으려고 해요
     생각보단.. 곡물도 많이 섭취하는것 같아요
