If you find it difficult to wake up every morning and experience extreme fatigue throughout the day, there may be a problem with your liver health. Fatigue is one of the common symptoms caused by liver disease. The liver plays an important role in managing energy, breaking down toxins, producing bile, and relieving fatigue. Therefore, it is good to know foods that support liver function in your daily life.

▶Apple

 

Apples are rich in pectin, which helps eliminate toxins produced during digestion and reduces the burden on the liver's detoxification process. Additionally, the abundant flavonoid components in apples aid in bile production. In particular, flavonoids are found mostly in apple skins, so it is good to wash thoroughly and consume them with the skin on.

Cabbage

 

Cabbage is rich in glucosinolates and vitamin C, which help detoxify the liver and assist in the elimination of toxins. Moreover, glucosinolates are known to have anticancer properties. According to a study by the University of Illinois, cabbage and other vegetables not only aid in the removal of toxins from the liver but also help reduce fat absorption, preventing fatty liver disease. If cabbage is not available, similar effects can be achieved with other cruciferous vegetables such as napa cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower.

Garlic

 

The components such as allicin and selenium contained in garlic are good for liver health.

It helps with inflammation. Allicin, which gives garlic its spicy flavor, has excellent anticancer and antimicrobial properties, and it combines with vitamin B1 to promote carbohydrate metabolism and relieve liver fatigue. To effectively consume allicin, it is recommended to crush or chop garlic during cooking. Selenium removes reactive oxygen species, providing detoxification effects as well as boosting immune function.

The abundant beta-carotene in chives helps with liver detoxification and the removal of active oxygen. Additionally, the high levels of vitamin B complex in chives help alleviate accumulated fatigue. They are effective in anti-inflammatory and antioxidant actions, and in traditional Korean medicine, they are classified as having a warm nature, which stimulates metabolism.

Turmeric

 

The curcumin component of turmeric promotes bile production, aiding fat digestion and reducing liver burden. It also produces alcohol-degrading enzymes, preventing liver damage caused by alcohol. In fact, a study from Ohio State University in the United States found that people who took 80mg of curcumin daily for four weeks had lower liver damage markers (ALT).
