If you find it difficult to get up every morning and experience extreme fatigue throughout the day, you may have a problem with your liver health. Fatigue is one of the common symptoms of liver disease. The liver plays crucial roles in our body, including energy management, toxin breakdown, bile production, and fatigue relief. Therefore, it is beneficial to be aware of foods that support liver function.

▶Apple

 

Apples are rich in pectin. This helps eliminate toxins produced during digestion, thereby reducing the burden on the liver's detoxification function. Additionally, the flavonoids abundant in apples aid in bile production. Since flavonoids are particularly concentrated in the apple peel, it is beneficial to wash the apple thoroughly and consume it with the peel on.

▶Cabbage

 

Cabbage is rich in glucosinolates and vitamin C, which aid in liver detoxification and help eliminate toxins. Furthermore, glucosinolates are known to have anticancer properties. According to research from the University of Illinois, cruciferous vegetables help not only with the elimination of toxins from the liver but also with preventing fatty liver disease by reducing fat absorption. If cabbage is unavailable, similar benefits can be obtained from cruciferous vegetables such as napa cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower.

▶ Garlic

 

Components contained in garlic, such as allicin and selenium, are liver essence

It helps with anger. Allicin, which gives garlic its pungent taste, has excellent anticancer and antibacterial properties; it combines with vitamin B1 to promote sugar metabolism and relieve liver fatigue. To consume allicin effectively, it is best to mince or crush the garlic before cooking. Selenium eliminates free radicals, boosting not only detoxification but also immune function.

▶ Chives

 

The beta-carotene abundant in chives aids in liver detoxification and the elimination of free radicals. Additionally, the B vitamins found in chives help relieve accumulated fatigue. They are effective for anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and according to traditional Korean medicine, they are classified as having a warm nature that stimulates metabolism.

▶Turmeric

It also prevents alcohol-induced liver damage by generating alcohol-degrading enzymes. In fact, there is a study from Ohio State University in the United States showing that people who consumed 80 mg of curcumin daily for four weeks had lower levels of liver damage (ALT).
