In the past, our diet lacked animal protein. Protein is an essential nutrient for maintaining stamina and muscle strength. Tofu is made from soybeans, which are called "meat from the field," and is rich in plant-based protein. During times when meat was hard to obtain, tofu served as a valuable substitute for meat.

Twice as much protein as soy milk

Typically, 100g of tofu contains 9.3g of protein. This is twice as much as soy milk made from the same beans (4.4g). The content of protein and lipids, which are the main components of tofu, varies depending on the manufacturing method and water content. However, tofu, which is ideal for vegetarian diets, is the strongest source of plant-based protein.

Soft tofu for people with weak digestive function

People with weak digestive functions find it difficult to eat a lot of tofu as well. In such cases, soft tofu can be an alternative. The digestion and absorption rate of soft tofu is much better at 95% compared to the 65% digestion rate of regular soybeans. Those with weak digestive functions who cannot eat meat can supplement their protein intake with soft tofu.

Excellent for preventing heart disease

The isoflavone compounds abundant in tofu help reduce the risk of developing heart disease. In particular, they are beneficial for preventing heart disease in women before and after menopause. Isoflavones, also known as plant-based estrogens, are a type of soy protein.

Eating tofu frequently helps remove cholesterol attached to blood vessel walls. Therefore, it is effective in preventing lifestyle-related diseases such as arteriosclerosis, hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes.

Tofu contains lecithin, a type of phospholipid. It is a substance necessary for the structure and metabolic functions of our body's cells. In particular, lecithin (PC) containing choline is involved in the repair of cell membranes and can help prevent Alzheimer's disease.

Consuming plant-based proteins such as tofu, other soy foods, and nuts can help achieve a healthy lifespan. Replacing animal-based proteins with plant-based proteins gradually reduces the risk of death.

◆ Helps prevent skin aging

Eating tofu gradually raises blood sugar levels. It is comfortable and gentle on the skin. On the other hand, frequently consuming excessive carbohydrate foods and processed foods causes blood sugar to spike rapidly, which is not good for skin health.
