The food I want to introduce in my own healthy diet is sprouted brown rice.
This is a food I consistently take to manage my blood pressure, and I am seeing positive results.
Let me introduce my personal method to maximize the benefits of brown rice.
My own healthy sprouted brown rice
It is important to cook brown rice properly so that it is easy to digest.
Unhulled brown rice, with only the outer husk removed and the germ and inner husk left intact, is hard and difficult to digest.
So, germination is initiated to solve such problems.
If you sprout brown rice so that the roots grow slightly (1-2mm), the outer shell becomes softer and the nutritional content increases.
[Benefits of sprouted brown rice]
There are many beneficial components for the body, such as vitamins, amino acids, GABA, and enzymes.
Sprouted brown rice contains a high amount of GABA, which is good for the brain.
The GABA component helps with vascular diseases.
It is also said to have effects on nerve stabilization, brain health, and dementia prevention.
When brown rice is sprouted, the content of calcium, vitamin B1, and dietary fiber also increases.
Three methods to sprout brown rice
It is sufficient to have the roots slightly (about 1-2mm) protruding from the brown rice.
(First method)
Please wash the brown rice multiple times.
Soak in water for about 8 hours.
Put brown rice in a sieve and cover it with a damp cloth.
Spray water frequently to keep it from drying out.
(Second method)
The first method is too cumbersome.
Soaking brown rice in water continuously and leaving it at room temperature of about 20 to 25 degrees Celsius for one to two days will cause it to sprout.
Sometimes, you need to change the water.
It can spoil if left at high room temperature for a long time~
You need to maintain the proper temperature and change the water frequently.
Please check periodically if the roots are growing. Even if roots appear, not all of them do. I usually cook or store in the refrigerator as soon as the roots grow about one-third of the way through the brown rice.
(Third method)
This is the easiest method.
After thoroughly washing the brown rice, soak it in water for about 8 hours.
Pressure cooker brown rice => sprouted brown rice (2 hours/4 hours/6 hours...) If you set the sprouting time, the brown rice will be ready after the specified time.
It's convenient, but it's hard to tell if the roots have taken hold. I sometimes do this when I'm busy.
With healthy black beans~
Add soaked black beans after sprouting brown rice.
Cooked with brown rice in the pressure cooker.
Sprouted brown rice takes more effort than white rice, so I usually cook a large amount at once, divide it into portions, and freeze it.
I eat brown rice about once a day.
Even though it has been sprouted, it is still harder and less digestible compared to white rice, so it needs to be chewed as long as possible in the mouth, which is why it is mainly eaten in the evening when there is more time.
Cook brown rice and glutinous black rice in an 8:2 ratio.
I cook rice using 100% brown rice without mixing it with white rice.
Mix brown rice and black sticky rice in approximately a 8:2 ratio.
Regular brown rice is hard and difficult to eat, so I add a little and include a lot of sticky brown rice.
The reason for adding black rice
Black rice is called a medicinal grain because its benefits are very high. Black rice contains flavonoid compounds, which have effects such as anti-aging, anticancer properties, and skin beautification.
Points to be careful about with brown rice
If you have a gastrointestinal disorder, brown rice may be difficult to digest, leading to stomach discomfort.
Brown rice may not be suitable in case of weakness.
Unsprouted brown rice contains phytic acid, which can interfere with mineral absorption.
A one-minute sea bream with only the husk removed is good.
It is better to purchase small quantities of freshly milled brown rice frequently.
Brown rice grown on our land is good.
Brown rice snack
I often eat brown rice puffs and sprouted brown rice rice cakes as snacks.
It's good to eat when you're bored or hungry.
Sprouted brown rice rice cakes
It's also delicious to make tteokbokki or, when feeling lazy, to thinly slice and make tteokguk.
I mainly introduced brown rice, brown rice puffed rice, and brown rice rice cakes that I frequently use.
I am managing my slightly high blood pressure (not to the extent of needing medication, but advised to monitor) well through sprouted brown rice, various vegetables, and walking about ten thousand steps a day.
The GABA component found in sprouted brown rice is said to help with brain health and dementia prevention, so I recommend it as a longevity food for the era of 120 years now, beyond the 100-year lifespan.
I hope it will be helpful to those in need^^
