After overeating, stress, or consuming a lot of greasy or flour-based foods, I often experience indigestion, which manifests as symptoms like vomiting, nausea, dizziness, headaches, abdominal pain, and chills.
There are various folk remedies for when you have indigestion.
1. Massaging the soft flesh area called Hapgok acupoint between the thumb and index finger can reduce indigestion, and if there are health issues, the area becomes hard, so it's good to press firmly even if you feel pain.
2. Located 5cm below the point where the blood flow palm assisting the stomach and spleen activity ends, press firmly with your thumb nail as if pinching.
3. The area between the bones of the elbow when the arm is bent is called Qūézhí point. Applying acupressure to this point with the thumb has the effect of promoting digestion.
4. When experiencing indigestion, puncture the small blood vessels on both thumbs and also puncture the ten acupressure points.
If bloodletting at the ten acupoints is difficult, it is acceptable to perform bloodletting at the small and middle points instead. However, before performing bloodletting, always disinfect with alcohol to prevent infection.
5. When you have indigestion, massaging the area around the stomach with your hands or inflating your abdomen and then inhaling repeatedly to flatten it can help. This process promotes circulation of stagnant blood in the stomach and can aid digestion.
6. When you have indigestion, your body tends to hurt, so you often sit or lie down, but this can actually worsen the symptoms. It is better to stand and walk for about 30 minutes without overexerting yourself, as it can be helpful.
7. If you feel bloated or have a headache before or while eating, it is better to fast if possible. To rehydrate, it is better to drink warm water rather than cold water to soothe your stomach.
