Reasons and Concerns for Recommending NIFT Testing for Pregnant Women Over 35

I've heard that the NIFT test is recommended, not optional, for pregnant women over 35. I've been wondering if I should follow the current trend and get it done. I'm writing this because I'm curious to hear what others in a similar situation think.

Reasons and Concerns for Recommending NIFT Testing for Pregnant Women Over 35

I'm very health-conscious, so I'm diligent about getting pregnancy-related checkups. I was convinced by the NIPT test, which I heard could noninvasively detect fetal chromosomal abnormalities. However, the cost and anxiety surrounding the test results made it difficult to make a decision. The reason it's recommended for pregnant women over 35, though it varies from person to person, is that the risk of chromosomal abnormalities increases with age.

I've also seen many people around me who didn't get tested, or who carefully considered it but then postponed their decision. So, while I'd only considered it a choice, the fact that it was even recommended actually made me feel a sense of responsibility. Those considering the NIFT test will likely, like me, consider the financial burden, the psychological burden of the test results, and the timing of the test.

Personally, I believe that the most important thing is to carefully review the latest screening information and consult with your medical team to avoid any regrets. I think it would be helpful if you could share your experiences and thoughts, along with your own decisions.

It is an important decision during pregnancy, so even if it feels burdensome, it is better to learn about it slowly and gradually.
