A healthy diet rather than simply reducing calories at all costs

It's important to eat enough so you don't go hungry♡

 

 

 

Some people calculate calories while eating, such as one bowl of rice (200g) at 330 calories, three cookies at 160 calories, or a cup of grapes at 60 calories, in an attempt to lose weight. This stems from the misconception that eating less than the recommended daily calorie intake (2000-2500 calories for adults) will definitely lead to weight loss.

 

When you count calories while eating, you can initially see the effect of weight loss. However, over time, you gradually regain your original weight, and your health deteriorates compared to before dieting. Why does body weight not decrease even when you carefully monitor your calorie intake? Based on information from the American health and medical media 'Prevention,' we explored the reasons behind this.

 

It's not just about the calorie count.

 

Calories serve as a measure of how much energy is contained in a particular food. Additionally, eating high-calorie foods inevitably leads to weight gain.

 

However, having the same calorie count does not mean the effects on the body are the same, because some calories come from nutrient-rich, high-quality sources, while others do not.

 

Foods such as nuts, eggs, chicken, broccoli, and avocados provide essential nutrients for the body while also keeping you full for a longer period. They also stimulate the secretion of hormones that burn fat, which helps with weight loss.

 

On the other hand, processed foods containing refined grains or sugar, even when consumed in amounts equivalent to diet calories, lack nutrients and reduce satisfaction, leading to unconsciously eating more. Additionally, they promote fat accumulation rather than fat burning, which does not help with dieting.

 

If you cut calories too much, only muscle will disappear instead of fat.

 

Our bodies do not function like mathematical equations. Eating 800 calories less in a day does not mean you will lose the same amount of weight.

 

The body is not mathematics but biology. It functions through a combination of factors such as calories, hormones, genes, brain activity, appetite, and metabolism.

 

For example, if a menopausal woman consumes only 1,000 calories a day, it might seem like she would lose weight based solely on calorie intake, but in reality, that's not the case. When calorie intake becomes excessively low, she will feel hungry, and when the body detects that it is starving, it slows down metabolism and starts burning muscle instead of fat.

 

If you want to lose weight, it is more important to create a healthy diet that prevents hunger than simply reducing calories. Additionally, making a habit of consuming nutrient-rich vegetables, proteins, and unsaturated fatty acids allows you to naturally achieve your weight loss goals without obsessing over calories.
