Adequate hydration

If you curl up because you're cold, your water intake is likely to decrease. When water intake decreases, the skin becomes dry and flaky. In adults, the body's water content is about 60%. Water accounts for the most important part of our body. The WTO recommends multiplying your body weight by 0.03 to determine your appropriate water intake. Keeping and frequently eating water-rich fruits and vegetables is also a good method.

 

Indoor humidity control

The dry indoor air caused by heating dries out the skin. The National Health Insurance Service recommends maintaining indoor humidity between 30% and 60% during winter. Use a humidifier or hang a wet towel to keep the humidity at an appropriate level. There is nothing more regrettable than aging while sleeping.

 

Washing face with lukewarm water

On cold days, there is nothing better than taking a hot shower. The feeling of frozen joints relaxing is the best. However, washing your face with warm water accelerates aging. It is better to wash with lukewarm water and use a gentle cleanser that causes less irritation rather than very cold or hot water. After washing your face, apply moisturizer within three minutes to retain moisture. If your skin itches, washing your face too often can make it drier, so avoid washing more than twice a day. Maintaining the skin's oil and moisture balance is important for preventing aging.

 

Use of sunscreen

During the winter, it is easy to be exposed to UV-A ultraviolet rays, which are known to increase melanin pigmentation and wrinkles. When going outside, apply a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin, and block ultraviolet rays with gloves and hats. This way, you can stay much healthier and enjoy the winter.

 

Eating seasonal foods

Seasonal foods rich in vitamin C and E, such as tangerines, strawberries, and spinach, help with skin regeneration. Additionally, foods containing omega-3, such as fish and nuts, aid in maintaining skin elasticity and moisture. Conversely, fast food and fried foods are not good for the skin, so it is necessary to manage and avoid frequent consumption of these foods.
