When the intestines are filled with gas, cramps or severe pain may occur. You may experience swelling, a feeling of tightness, or abdominal bloating. Gas-related pain varies from person to person but can be as intense as appendicitis, gallstones, or heart disease.

Constipation or certain foods can cause more gas to build up in the body. Although people can pass gas up to 30 times a day, in daily life, various factors such as food can lead to more gas accumulating in the intestines. The medical media 'Medical News Today' introduced simple methods to comfortably release gas.

Farting comfortably = Holding in gas can cause bloating, discomfort, and pain. The easiest way is not to hold in the fart. If gas does not pass, constipation should be considered. If constipation persists or pain is severe, treatment may be necessary.

Bowel movement = Bowel movement generally refers to the expulsion of gas trapped in the intestines.

Eating slowly = Eating quickly or while moving can cause air intake, leading to gas-related pain. Sitting calmly and chewing food more thoroughly than usual can help prevent discomforts such as indigestion and abdominal bloating.

Not chewing gum = When chewing gum, there is a tendency to swallow air. Gum often contains artificial sweeteners that can cause swelling and gas.

Not using straws = Drinking beverages through a straw, bottle, or can can cause you to swallow air. It is best to sip slowly from a glass.

Quitting smoking means inhaling air when smoking.

Avoid carbonated drinks = Carbonated beverages can increase stomach gas.

Avoid gas-triggering foods = Artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sorbitol, maltitol, cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, dairy products, dietary fiber supplements, and legumes such as lentils can trigger gas. Keeping a food diary can help identify which foods cause excessive gas for you.

Herbal teas such as anise, chamomile, ginger, and peppermint are helpful. In particular, anise is good for gas caused by constipation.

Huihyang seeds = a globally popular digestive aid. Some animal studies suggest it may help protect the lining of the digestive tract.

Peppermint supplement = Some people take peppermint oil capsules to address issues such as bloating, constipation, and trapped gas. Uncoated capsules can dissolve too quickly in the digestive tract, causing heartburn. Peppermint inhibits iron absorption, so capsules should not be taken with iron supplements. It is not suitable for people with anemia.

Clove oil has traditionally been used to treat digestive disorders such as abdominal bloating, gas, and indigestion. Consuming clove oil after meals can increase digestive enzymes and reduce the amount of gas.

Heat=Placing a hot water bottle or heating pad on the abdomen can help alleviate gas pain and discomfort. Heat relaxes the muscles of the intestines, aiding the passage of gas through the intestines.

Apple cider vinegar = According to one study, apple cider vinegar may help manage functional dyspepsia, including bloating. Adding a spoonful of vinegar to a glass of water and drinking it before meals can prevent gas pain and bloating. Since vinegar can erode tooth enamel, it is recommended to rinse the mouth with water after drinking.

Activated charcoal = charcoal removes gas by trapping it and leaving it in the stool. It is advisable to consult a doctor before taking activated charcoal.

Probiotics = Increase beneficial bacteria in the gut. They are good for treating various digestive discomforts, including infectious diarrhea. According to some studies, certain probiotic strains can alleviate symptoms such as bloating, intestinal gas, and abdominal pain.

Exercise = Moderate activities such as walking or yoga help to relieve gas.

Deep breathing = Deep breathing has a positive effect on the autonomic nervous system and can also aid digestive function. It does not work for everyone. Breathing in too much air can cause bloating.

Gas release posture = Exercises such as yoga poses that bring the knees to the chest or squats can help reduce gas buildup.

Gas trapped in the intestines can pass through and disappear within a few hours. Using home remedies such as exercise or diet can help you feel relief more quickly. If the pain persists or is severe, it is advisable to see a doctor.
