There are several reasons why eating salty food habitually is not good!

I used to have a habit of eating blandly, but I feel like I'm gradually eating more and more salty.

For example, liking kimchi stew or drinking ramen broth, etc.

Even though I know this isn't good, I just can't do it well.

Why eating salty foods is not good... I review it once again.

There are several reasons why eating salty food habitually is not good!

  1. Increased risk of hypertension
The biggest problem with eating too salty is that it can cause high blood pressure. Consuming a lot of salt (sodium) increases the amount of water in the body, which raises blood volume and consequently increases blood pressure. High blood pressure increases the risk of serious diseases such as heart disease and stroke, so caution is necessary.

    2. Kidney function deterioration
Sodium is excreted through urine in the kidneys, but excessive sodium intake can put a strain on the kidneys and weaken their function. If the kidneys cannot properly excrete sodium, salt and water can accumulate in the body, increasing the risk of edema or kidney disease.

    3. Increased risk of cardiovascular disease
Eating a lot of salty foods increases the risk of not only hypertension but also cardiovascular diseases. Excessive sodium intake causes inflammation in the blood vessels, which can lead to arteriosclerosis. This increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other related conditions.

    4. Swelling and weight gain
Excessive sodium causes the body to retain more fluids, leading to swelling. This swelling often occurs in the face or legs and can result in weight gain. It is especially important for those on a diet to be cautious about this.

    5. Increased risk of osteoporosis
Consuming a lot of sodium increases calcium excretion in the body, which can lower bone mineral density and raise the risk of osteoporosis. Especially as you age, the risk of developing osteoporosis becomes greater, so reducing salty foods is important.

    Increased risk of stomach cancer
According to research, salty foods can damage the stomach lining and increase the risk of stomach cancer. Sodium irritates the stomach wall, causing inflammation, which may be related to the development of stomach cancer. In particular, pickled foods or salted foods require caution.

    7. Diminished sense of taste
Eating salty foods frequently can dull your taste buds, leading to a vicious cycle of craving even saltier flavors. Eventually, you start seeking stronger tastes, which increases your sodium intake. Therefore, it is important to develop the habit of eating with less salt whenever possible.

Actually, many reasons seem to come directly to mind, such as swelling and weight.

There are no major issues at the moment, but I tend to eat too salty.

I should try to exclude the broth or reduce the amount of salt or soy sauce when cooking.
