Commonly believed... 'Supplement combinations' that should not be taken together

Supplements play a useful supportive role in health management, but taking multiple types together can lead to unexpected side effects or potential health risks. Here, we explore the 'supplement combinations that should not be taken together' as discussed by experts from the UK Daily Mail.

First are the components of red yeast rice (red mold) and vitamin B3 (niacin). Both red yeast rice supplements and vitamin B3 help lower cholesterol levels in the body. Dr. Todd Sontak, a family medicine specialist in the United States, said, "Taking both together can place excessive strain on liver function and cause side effects such as lowering blood pressure, so caution is advised."

Vitamin B3 has the effect of vasodilation and improving blood flow, while red yeast rice inhibits blood clotting and promotes circulation. When these two components interact in the body, they can excessively affect blood circulation, increasing the risk of hypotension or blood clotting disorders. Red yeast rice supplements work by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver, and vitamin B3 can cause hepatotoxicity when taken in excess. Therefore, taking these two ingredients together may lead to liver damage.

Be cautious when taking magnesium and calcium supplements at the same time. Magnesium and calcium can interact and reduce the absorption rate of each nutrient. Dr. Todd Shanket said, "Calcium can decrease magnesium blood levels, leading to side effects such as muscle cramps and fatigue, while magnesium can interfere with calcium's action on the bones. Therefore, it is advisable to keep at least a two-hour interval between taking each supplement."

It is also advisable to avoid taking fat-soluble vitamins together. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are not excreted and are stored in the body, so excessive intake can pose toxicity risks. Taking two types of fat-soluble vitamins simultaneously can cause ▲liver damage ▲decreased bone density ▲imbalance in calcium levels in the body. To avoid potential risks, it is important to follow the recommended dosages for each nutrient, and if taking multiple supplements at once, it is essential to consult with a healthcare professional to ensure safe consumption.

=============

Continuously taking magnesium these days

I forget and can't take care of it.

It's so difficult to prepare in the evening.

I manage to take care of things well at the company during the day...
