According to a study published in the academic journal JAMA Neurology, frailty is a strong predictor of dementia risk, with the risk increasing by 40% for each additional age-related health issue, typically 4 to 5 in number.
An international research team led by the University of Queensland in the UK tracked data from approximately 30,000 participants involved in four longitudinal studies conducted in the UK and the United States over a period of 20 years.
Research findings indicate that frailty accelerates starting nine years before a dementia diagnosis. Additionally, for every 4 to 5 additional health issues related to age, the risk of developing dementia increases by 40%. The researchers stated, "This suggests that frailty is not just a consequence of dementia but actively contributes to its onset."
The researchers suggested that "frailty screening and health programs may help improve long-term cognitive health outcomes." They emphasized that monitoring frailty during regular health checkups is important for dementia prevention.
Dr. David Ward, the lead author of the study, said, "People age at different rates, and the number of accumulated health issues is determined by the degree of their frailty," and "By understanding the relationship between aging, frailty, and dementia, targeted intervention strategies can be used to reduce risks and improve quality of life."
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 55 million people worldwide suffer from dementia, and 10 million new cases are diagnosed each year.

Suddenly I feel weak, and lately I have been feeling a "huh~" kind of mood.
This seems to be related to aging.
My resilience has decreased compared to before.
It's like feeling energized or invigorated.
